Cox needs to be more consistent, I think true for everyone. If he was consistent, I reckon he could vie for the Coleman.

He just isn't reliable enough to hold onto a straightforward mark.

Statistically, his marking isn't terrible, but visually, we see him drop too many opportunities.. marks which I feel natural footballers have for breakfast. I hate that in a KP.

We have to realize, it's our forward entries putting it into his hands.

For this reason, by all means, explore greener pastures. I was happy to put him back to find form. Realistically if he held onto every mark he is reasonably expected to hold onto, he would be a gun.

End of the day, I realized there is hope, and then there is reality. He wasn't 'clicking'.

So now he has his chance to suck eggs. Again!

If Cox was selected for this then they would have kept Lynch. Lynch is a better ruck then Cox, Cox is a better forward. I hope we see Cameron, Cox, and Mihocek all in the same forward line. Not only will they help each other but they will also free up the small forward and allow more opportunity for crumb goals.

Very happy to see the three talls included at long last! Welcome back Coxy.

Darcy could be called upon to shore up the defence in Moore's absence. It's a bit of a worry with Madge playing at CHB and Darcy has shown he can take intercept marks in defence .

It sure will be interesting to see how the ruck work is shared about.

Dont know why some keyboard experts here have it in for Cox so much, ive yet to see him play a really shithouse game, he usually kicks least two goals, and he relieves Grundy for spells. Granted, young Lynch did well against Gawn, but Cox was always going to get another run eventually,. Not happy to see De Goey suspended, for nothing, while Duckwood claws a players face and gets off, Christensen, ur a bloody idiot even if you were a Magpie, very ordinary mate We will do this mob, for Harves first win. Go Woods, 19 point win. Smile Exclamation

It's Christian...

also, Cox's problem is that he plays shithouse quarters. Sure. he'll kick a goal or two, but then he'll be a liability for the other 110 minutes.

He needs to be much more consistent.

Maybe yes, but he aint Robinson Crusoe in the "needs to be more productive during entire game dept" he has several mates in that area. And consider if he kicked only one goal v both Port and Brisveags , we would have won both games, both of which we lost by a mere point. Just saying. Surprised

My guess is it's going to be a very slow forward line. Maybe if we move the ball quicker from the back half, the three talls if they can't mark will bring the ball to ground for the likes of McCreery and Elliot to pick up the crumbs and goal. Wait and see.

...and another point, while I am at it. I don;t get the hatred for Madgen. He does many important, but small things (hard to notice) in defence. His marking is elite, actually. I actually thought his performance against Melbourne was OK. Happy to have him as CHB, with many options for defensive support available in our team configuration.
He is no Darcy Moore, but he never claimed to be as such. He is a back up defender who, over his 38 games, has made significant developments in his standard of play, and provides depth when we need it in defence.
IQ, Noble, Maynard, Roughie are currently in excellent form. Rebound of Noble, IQ and Maynard will enormously assist Madgen, who can complement their rebound energy with his marking skills.

i couldn't agree more. Makes no sense at all. Gives 5,000%5 every week. does whatever is asked. Might not make the grade in a premiership team, but how can you hate him.

I don't care if he puts in a million per cent. He lacks the basic skills to play elite level AFL footy. He's highly unlikely ever to play in a premiership team and the whole idea of an AFL club assembling a football team together is to put itself in a position to compete for a premiership. All Collingwood supporters do is lament all the grand final losses we've endured over the last 50 years, yet we condone the selection of players like Madgen who at best are honest goers who are never going to deliver premierships.

Magden may not be a Premiership calibre football player (Chris Dawes wasnt either, neither was Leigh Brown in the eyes of most here, until each of them were!). I have two thoughts.

1. Role players are increasingly important in the AFL. He might be a piece of a premier. Even iuf not, if he is solid, he might be good to keep around in the event that say a Moore or a Roughhead calibre player gets injured.

2. Even if you are right, and Magden isnt going to be on a premiership list, i think he'd still better than the rest of the players on our list, so if you hate Magden, what are you going to think of the next man up.

Realistically, list cloggers who try their heart out and are big mature bodies, do have a place on a developing team. In my opinion, the worst thing you can do is throw young KPPs to the wolves before they are ready. We have seen this time and time again. If we have an injury, or the youth isnt ready, then play him. He doesnt earn much, it isnt hurting us to play, so i'm not sure what the downside is.

We are all realidtic about his ability, although he is much much better this year than he was last, so who knows. He was late to the game. I will give you this. He isnt afraid to take the game on and he is improving every week! That is two qualities that neither Callum Brown or Braydon Sier have at the minute.

Big day for me. Off to the casino to watch the game with2 freo supporters and a pea brain eagles fan. Watching them get plastered, while I sip on a few heineken zeros and pints of water.
Hopefully I get to drive it home... while I'm ... driving them home.

Looking forward to this, been a while since we won 3 in a row.... 2019, won the last 5 before a loss to the Giants in the Prelim.

Pies by 11 points in a gritty contest.
