Only a couple of weeks away now.

Changes to the playoffs the big news going into this season. See if you can work it out Confused

The expanded 12-team format of the 2022 MLB playoffs will work as follows (all of this is per league): the top two division winners receive a bye to the second round, while the third-best division winner and the best three teams among non-division winners will play in three-game series for a place in the Division Series. The worst division winner will face the bottom Wild Card team, while the other two take on each other.

As a result, the single game playoff that was known as the Wild Card game was removed. Instead, the first round will consist of a three-game series involving the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th seeds from each league. The 3rd seed hosts the 6th, while the 4th host the 5th in the other tie. Additionally, there won't be reseedings: the team with the best overall record hosts the winner of the 4-5 seeds while the #2 seed hosts the winner of the #3 vs. #6.

Besides, there won't be a '163', tiebreaker game to determine playoff teams. If teams finish with the same regular season record, the MLB would implement a prearranged system of tiebreakers that has yet to be confirmed.

I'll post a market for the World Series later.

Dodgers are favourites @ $7. Very strong side again and the addition of Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Trea Turner (with a Max Scherzer rental thrown in).... it's hard to go past them... even though it's like picking the filth to win the flag for me, the 6/1 is very tempting.

Current WS market.

Dodgers - $7
Astros - $10
Yankees - $11
White Sox, Blue Jays, Braves & Mets - $13
Brewers, Padres & Rays - $15
Red Sox - $19
SF GIANTS, Cardinals & Angels - $26
Phillies & Mariners - $34
Tigers - $41
Reds, Athletics & Guardians (Indians) - $51
Twins & Marlins - $67
Royals & Rangers - $81
Rockies, Cubs & Nationals - $101
Diamondbacks - $151
Orioles & Pirates - $251

Always have a couple of bucks on the Giants.
Had a small bet on the Cubs @ 100/1 & the Marlins @ 66/1

Couple of pineapples on the Dodgers, it's a long season, but they do have a very impressive line up and I can't see the $7 lasting too long, will be $4 by the end of May.

The White Sox do look well placed to win the Central division in the American League and the $13 for them is also a juicy wager that I'll have a little piece of.

The season has kicked off and after the first 3 (or 4) games, the only undefeated team is the Rays with 3 wins over the Orioles in their series.

The Dodgers dropped 2 of their 3 games against the 200/1 (WS price) Rockies.

A few little moves in the markets; Dodgers 6's into 5's, Blue Jays 12's into 8's, Giants 25's into 22's.

Pirates & Orioles, both drift from 250/1 out to 500/1.
Rockies 100/1 out to 200/1 Shocked
Royals 80/1 to 100/1.
Tigers 40/1 to 50/1.

Teams have played between 12 & 15 games so far. It's a bit early to gauge just where teams are at, but there are a few standouts.

The Dodgers are ticking along as expected, sitting on top of the National league table with a 10-3 record. The real surprise for them was dropping their first series 1-2 against the Rockies. They quickly rebounded and have only lost one game to the Braves since.

The; Mets, Cardinals, Giants, Rockies & Brewers round out the top few in that league. Last years winners, the Braves have a 7-8 record, but have had a tough early draw.

Blue Jays, Yankees, Mariners & Angels have all started off well in the American league.

A big result for the Cubs this morning, winning 21-0 over the Pirates.

Only a few little market moves; Blue Jays $13 into $9, Giants $26 into $21, Phillies $34 into $23, Twins $67 into $50 & Rockies back into $100 after being $200.

Drifters; Padres $15 - $18, Red Sox $19 - $23, Angels $26 - $34, Yankees $11 - $15,

Early days Presti, I haven't looked at their draw, but that is probably the reason.

The Dodgers look pretty good, their hitters are having a great start, as they should. They added nicely to an already formidable line up.
My Giants are purring along nicely too, but LA's firepower is awesome.

Over half way through the season. I haven't been getting too excited lately as my Giants (45/43) have been going pretty poorly and drifted out to 50/1 for the WS.

The Dodgers (58/30) lead the National league clearly and their offence is elite. They've scored a massive 446 HR's and their pitchers have only conceded 291.

The Yankees (62/27) are doing a similar job in the American league. Scoring 466 HR's and conceding a mere 290.

The Astros, Mets and Braves are the other standout contenders at this stage.

Current Odds

Yankees 4/1
Dodgers 9/2
Astros 21/4
Braves 7/1
Mets 8/1

Others are 20/1 and over.

Well that went quick!

The Astros taking out the American league was no surprise, but the Phillies winning the National league is one of the biggest upsets in recent history.

Finishing 6th with a modest 87-75 record, they quickly dispatched their opposition (Cardinals) in the Wild card series 2-0,
Destroyed the 2nd placed Braves 3 games to 1 in the 1/4 finals and were simply far too good fot the Padres in the semis taking that series 4-1.

They're $2.45 to win the WS opener in Texas and $2.50 to take the series.
