I'm back and amazed how many children were there post school holidays. That is why I plan my holidays outside school holidays to avoid kids. Nothing like feral kids screaming around you at the pool whilst their parents just switch off.
Had the one ugly Australian tried to spoil everyone's holiday. I thought he was from WA, no it was Marty from Franga. He was swearing like a trouper at the pool. I asked him to tone it down as their were women and children and his response was, "I'm on holiday and I am paying to be here and I will do what a fckn like, now fck off". You can't argue with people like that so I walked away and he was full on for two days, drinking and got some more tattoos and that Karma bus always gets you. He and his family holidayed with 3 other families. Well after a few days of drinking they had a fight within the whole group. It was hilarious to watch them punch each other and no way I was getting involved. Hotel security did, sorted them out and warned them. One more discretion they would be booted. Result Marty and family was ostracized and very very quiet after that. Well after a month we flew back Friday night and landed Saturday. Within hours of being home I was bed bound with a virus that had me on the loo, vomiting and shivering with aches. I started to come good yesterday. Despite copious amounts of food (no dog) and plenty of beer and cocktails with the duty free I lost 3 kilos. After my viral episode 5 kilos. Julang Julang (walking walking) 12kms average a day helped.
I do get a complex because every fcker was offering me Viagra everyday.
Australians are no longer the #1 tourist to venture to Bali, we have been smashed by the Chinese. The selfie stick is huge with the Chinese lol. |

I'm sure China is not immune to people committing acts of drunken violence... _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

^ d'you think ?? I have some acquaintance with China, though i am no expert, and I am struck by how little of this kind of "individualism" one encounters.. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

Well, it's certainly plausible that an authoritarian collective society puts paid to some of that – and it's likely that reportage rates aren't going to be nearly as detailed, either, so it'd be hard to compare with other countries. But on one count, at least, they don't seem to be doing particularly well violence-wise:

There was a massive outcry from the Thais a few years back with Chinese. It necessitaed an apology from the Chinese ambassadors. The middle class Chinese come on group tours and everything is paid for. They eat and drink at Chinese hotels and such. They apparently were using Buddhist sites as toilet blocks. There are now signs in Chinese threatening arrest if they do not use the proper facilities.
When I was in Angkor Wat i went through a wat and the famous tree from Tomb Raider was there. About 100 Chinese wanted a photo taken but of the whole group. Not one photo and email. No one each. It threatened to turn nasty. Everyone was blocked goint through. The security guards had to move them on.

You get those halfwits because it's a cheap place to go. Any dirtbag from Perth can get a return flight for under $200 and spend next to nothing on whatever the attraction is in a third world squalor.
It's the number 1 holiday destination for the trash from Rockingham.... like flies to a turd. Hmmm, sort of fits perfectly, doesn't it?! _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

Oh yes, they have their own peccadilloes, without a doubt. But they are usually more sins of ignorance, than knowing arrogance such as the case described. I think we see that in Australia, where Chinese immigrants, as a group, are hard-working and inclined to take pains to avoid making waves. China is a harsh and brutally meritocratic culture, and it is certainly not all attractive, but we can learn much from them. In some respects, though not all, they are rather like we used to be, before our culture started accepting ignorance and selfish hedonism like that displayed by Marty. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

My point was that Chinese tourists are a new phenomenon. The tour guides are not helpful to them The Thais want Chinese as the HISO Thais are nearly all Chinese descent and they can make money. There is a small island near here called Koh Larn. Has several beaches, holiday places and bars. The boats pull up in a small cove, they are marched out of the boats to a food hut. They are given a bowl of rice and some other dish, a cup of tea and a sprite. They have 20 minutes after lunch to get wet and take photos and then back on the boats. They are told that every beach vendor selling things is a thief. They will pay 5 times the price for a shirt because they don't know. Once they work it out they will cotton on quick. like the Japanese did. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

They are ronrat. Hey Skids, Rockingham is spot on. Anyway I won't be heading back for a few years. Cuba, Peru, Hawaii then Europe. Hawaii comes anytime when my son and his US girlfriend call the wedding date.
I got back and my eldest advised me that I am going to be a Grand Father (1st) so that's to come in late Feb. I picked she was Pregnant before the announcement as before we went away we caught up and she turned down wine for water. No one in my family has ever has turned down a drink. Dead giveaway. |
