Lets not forget Blair please.
I've watched both games live then the replay this year and Blair's work in and under in the middle is significant. He may not get the ball everytime but by geez he makes it hard for the opposition to get it. He's an absolute terrier with a hunting instinct.

Blair was the Main Reason we got back into the Game after Walkers 3 Straight Goals.

- Goldsack
- Macaffer
- Elliott
We might see (1) and (2) swap places this year, particularly as Goldie is currently on the injury list and will battle to regain full fitness before mid-season. |
Spot on Tanin! I don't know how Bucks is gonna fit all three of them in there but I'd love to see all three up there! |
What in hell is this? I know this thread was bumped because of Elliott's great effort on Sunday, but the above idiocy deserves some attention too. Where is Sinclair in this list?
Corrected for accuracy:
1. Sinclair
2. Goldsack
3. toss it up really. Elliott's there at his best but doesn't bring it every game like the above. Caff's finding his feet again and doesn't have the pace of the others, but does tackle well (6 on Sunday).
Number 1 and 2 are not to be debated. Those two blokes have largely been responsible for the return of our suffocating forward pressure with Sinclair being the one true igniter of the flame,his efforts have embarrassed the rest of the team into following his example.

That young Melbourne supporter with the glasses who was sitting on the boundary, weeping, while the rest of the supporters were going off their rockers at the players.
But as for Elliott, Robbo wants to get him on the show, thinks his story is a great one (which it is). He's even now referring to Jamie as "(Gerard's) little boyfriend".

I'm a huge fan of Elliot, liked the look of him from the get go.
Certainly at the moment, I see him as a specialist HFF, FP who can apply great defensive pressure, is very good overhead for his size, will run and run hard and who has now settled well and shown an ability to kick a bag of goals, very dangerous player for us now a real threat and I'm sure he'll go on with it.
Fasolo struggles to apply defensive pressure because he lacks pace, he is great overhead for his size, a deadly kick but is a bit slow / one paced.
He get's away with it higher up the ground and his work in tight is actually very good, I've always seen him moving into the midfield as he matures and others get older.
Elliot is the form Mid at the moment and you don't mess with that, he'd be first small forward picked at the moment.
Caff is struggling a bit, Goldy is very honest and does a good job, Dids needs to put a string of games together to see if his body can hold up. Krak needs to get fit.
Mooney is promising, great pace and a good chase down tackler in the forward line. Needs to develop his offensive side.
Paine could be a regular in the pocket by year's end.
Sinclair tries hard, applies good defensive pressure buy blazes and sprays the ball all over the place. |

He has also shown himself to be very good overhead for his size, a reasonably accurate kick and a very smart footballer up forward.
He is kicking goals.
He may well blossom into a mid but I see him as a very important small forward at the moment. |
Yep. I just love "small" forwards who can take a mark more often than not, are reasonably straight kicks, and have the ability to find themselves unmarked inside the 50 with a clear path to goal. That takes football smarts and young Mr Elliott seems to have 'em. I'd play him every game this season - he looked the goods last year, he looked the goods on Sunday, and I reckon he's going to be the goods. Another couple of years and tbe kids will all have 19 on their guernseys. In case you're a Carlscum supporter who's wandered by, what I'm saying is that young Elliott (you'll remember that name - he gave it to your club up the @rse) is going to be a champion for the team from Victorious Park.

Who cares about which of our small forwards is best, the fact is we have half a dozen guns to come back the second they're ready. Where they gonna fit in?!
Ball, Daisy, Kraks and Dids are top 5 players and all just about ready, how do you drop 4 from yesterdays side? Seedy had an ordinary day, but he was first up after an injury & his pre-season form was brilliant, besides, he was only the sub!
You couldn't drop Dwyer after yesterday, that was his first full game ffs, and he was fantastic, Jamie and Sinks WERE our forward pressure, they were awesome as a pair and managed 7 or 8 goals between them. My guess is people would say Caff & Goldy, but they're two of the most versatile guys in our side and Caff missed a whole season, he needs a few games to get back to his best, and can do even better, his conditioning is incredible!
As a matter of fact have you had a look at the state of all our guys? They are unbelievable! Pendles has beefed up, so have Blair and Goldy, they look like rocks with veins!
What this really does, I guess, is give Bucks the freedom to develop the concept of 'horses for courses' (yes, it was Mick's idea), picking a team based on the opposition and conditions. What a luxury!
Can a team have too much depth?!

Fantastic question IMO. I reckon in great teams, it boils down to the current FORM of the players rather than just WHO is available. We may see some big names not in good form being omitted in the near future. |

The returm of our 2010/11 forward pressure would be the best thing that could happen, it was the missing piece in 2012 - well, that & injuries. If we can beat the Dawks this week we are clear flag favourites and will have started the season by beating three sides who cost us 6 losses last year, that makes us 3 games clear of anyone else on last year. Of course it's a mighty big 'if', the Dawks were in scintillating form last week, and I can't figure out how we beat them, but as long as bucks can, who cares!!!
