I just read the stats in today's paper and discovered that we had 81% disposal efficiency last night.81%!When was it ever that high?Even when we won the premiership I can't remember it ever being that high.Well done to the coaching staff for turning everything around so quickly after last week's game.

I'm guessing we played at least 12 games on the MCG last year - so he was responsible for 5 points per games.
So no where near as bad as you are suggesting.

That was not my suggestion. That was The Footy Record word for word. If they wanted something more sensible they should have given turnovers per disposal (though sometimes it might be better not to have a disposal and have the ball in dispute than to dispose and turn it over).
As for how bad the 61 points is, that depends a bit on what "directly" means and on the numbers for other non-defenders.

Every player has strengths and weaknesses. There is no complete player. e.g. We have very few players who are good shots for goal, other than those who have "Elliott" in their name.

I thought that Greenwood (aka the Pig!) was important tonight too, because he added some grunt to the mid-field. We need that, as evidenced by its lack last week. Too many sprinters otherwise.
Can't wait to see what Tay will bring.

Couldn't agree more. Levi was sensational by owning Martin. One wonders what the result might have been last week if Levi was doing his thing against Geelong's mids.

I'm trying to be more reserved and less emotional this year and, despite the result, I wasn't too concerned about last week's performance as I thought the structures were fundamentally sound. This week I'm not getting too excited as our execution wasn't perfect. The litmus test will be playing our way against all of WCE, Bulldogs, Bombers and particularly Brisbane at their home.

qldmagpie67, if you care to look at the footage from, say, 5 m, 35 s to go in the last, you will see Langdon again not going up to the wing, not taking the handball from Sidebottom and not running rings around the entire Richmond midfield (including, it must be said, a badly trailing Martin).

Yes I saw that and wondered at the time was it fantastic vision and footwork or was he just wandering aimlessly around in circles from the affects of morphine 😂😂😂😂
It was actually a good piece of work it must be said
I thought he actually played ok last night barring the silly free he gave lynch and the pack crash he did when he didn't need too as we had 2 guys already going
I thought our whole backline was very good and worked very well together
Next week is a bigger test but I got this gut feeling e have there measure with the addition of Roughhead and Moore give us far more options

The mids helped by the backs pushed both the ball and Richmond defence deep
This had the effect of elimination of the long bomb for goal and their backs then continually contesting for the ball deeper in our forward area

An excellent tactic

So no where near as bad as you are suggesting.

The more important question is how many points was he directly linked to our scoring? I would suggest it's greater than 5 per game - so his contribution I suspect is a net positive in points per game.

Is say being directly responsible for handing the opposition one goal a game every time you step on the MCG is ridiculously awful actually.

That's the result of having a thousand short kicks to unmarked players.
