Apart from Jesus there is no one who is completely innocent. We are all sinners by nature and therefore none of us have the right to be free from suffering on the basis of innocence. |

Original sin, eh ?? Possibly the most obscene, disgusting and manipulative concept foisted upon humans by people in power.
Sinners by nature ? What rubbish !
The two or three in this thread who keep dogmatically quoting the bible - a tome of extremely dubious origins to say the least - miss the point of faith and belief completely.
Give me a healthy sceptic like CQ anyday or someone like Michael who worships a cow but has a simple Christian faith which includes charm and a sense of humour. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) _________________ Donny.

Is your opinion or do you have some information to back it up?
MAGFAN8 wrote: | Sinners by nature ? What rubbish ! |
You know otherwise? Please supply evidence to the contrary.
MAGFAN8 wrote: | The two or three in this thread who keep dogmatically quoting the bible - a tome of extremely dubious origins to say the least - miss the point of faith and belief completely. |
We quote the bible as it is our final authority. You have evidence as to the origens of the bible so as to back up you statement of course and if so please supply. What is the point of faith and belief please?

So it is healthy to belittle and poke fun at rather than discuss and debate, and this is the sporn of evoloution and skepticism. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

Nuxta, your belief/faith is, by your own admission, based on a book.
A book that has different versions, a book that has been changed on the whims of kings and priests, widely interpreted/misinterpreted, written from fokelore and hearsay ... need I go on ?
Take from it what you will. That's your choice. One can be inspired as much by a fairytale as by a story of fact. Whatever works for you is fine, be it the truth or not.
Belief - noun: a vague idea in which some confidence is placed. Dogma - noun: a religious doctrine that is proclaimed as true without proof.
Just look at the history of recent decades/centuries. How many blatant lies we have been told for political expediency ? History is written and re-written by the winners of wars and people in power.
I have no problems with your beliefs or that you assert the bible is your ultimate authority but I do have problems with you putting it forward to other people as historically factual. _________________ Donny.

Eddies Bank Balance..
The bible states that adam and eve were created by God, the bible never says they are the only people he created..although it doesnt say he created more either.
In Genesis 4, the bible tells of how Adam and Eve have two children, Cain and Abel. Cain kills Abel, and then goes and builds a city..and lays with his wife.
At this point the bible has not said that Adam and Eve had had more children - and so we can assume that God had created more men and women to populate the earth.
onto your next question..
Noahs ark was roughtly 152 mtrs long, 25mtrs wide, and 15mtrs high..
"And God said unto Noah... Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt though make in the ark, and thou shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of... the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. A window shalt thou make in the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side therof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it." (Gen. 6:14-16)
Noah's Ark did not carry all races, it carried 8 people, and a whole bunch of animals (do some research, and with the size of the boat it is quite feasable that the animals fitted on the ark)
The whole purpose of the flood was to destroy all the wicked people (everyone besides Noah and his family)
and for your last question...see my first answer Also take into consideration the Tower of Babel, where the Lord seperated people into different races, and scatterered them over the earth... |

so adam and eve were a breed of all races??? if not, please explain ! | In actual fact you are partialy correct, they did in fact contain all the genetic information required to make up all the peoples of the world. As a christian I dont believe in different races but variations of the one human race. Jesus said God made all men of one blood. If you are truly interested I can supply you with about 2 weeks worth of solid reading to support it.
eddies bank balance wrote: | and exactley how big was noahs ark to carry all races? please explain |
Noahs ark only carried 8 people and the animals and their supplies
The Ark measured 300x50x30 cubits (Genesis 6:15) which is about 140x23x13.5 metres or 459x75x44 feet, so its volume was 43,500 m3 (cubic metres) or 1.54 million cubic feet. To put this in perspective, this is the equivalent volume of 522 standard American railroad stock cars, each of which can hold 240 sheep.

Moses told the people that it was no longer allowed to lay with your kin as he was told to tell them by God. This was done to keep the gene pool as pure as possible. No where in the bible does it say incest is a sin it says it is not profitable any longer.

But it is not truth to the rest of us as we didnt see it, what if you made it up. Contrary to Magfans post one of the most reliable things we have is that the bible has been transmitted to us just as the writers who first penned it under the inspiration of God intended. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

funny that cimpanzees have like 95% the same DNA as us, wouldnt be because us and them evolved from the one species a long time ago would be?
"But it is not truth to the rest of us as we didnt see it, what if you made it up."
same thing applies to the first person who wrote the bible.
what if me and 5 friends said we saw a UFO? would it be more believable then?
btw i actually do believe in 'aliens' though i dont believe they come here or anything, look how big the solar system/universe is, as if we would be the only planet with life in all that space. |

Hahahaha...I know CQ has already pointed it out, but how can I resist?
The bible is a 2000 year old "Mad Magazine" that too many people took as serious.
How many people have died in the name of "God", even though he/she/it are the same person/creature? |

So simmilar dna is proof of common decent, thats strange as watermelons have 98% the same dna as us does that mean we a re watermelons............do your homework CQ
CQ wrote: | same thing applies to the first person who wrote the bible. |
The first perso hey?... In actual fact it is 66 books written by 40 different writters over a fifteen hundred year period...but you knew that didnt you cause you done your homework.
CQ wrote: | what if me and 5 friends said we saw a UFO? would it be more believable then? |
Would it for you?.. Over five hundred people that seen Jesus crucified also saw Him after He had risen.....is that enough of the witness?

There is no such thing as aliens, it is just some fairy tale made up by nutters and whackos who will believe any old thing...........................................sound familiar _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

1 Corinthians 15
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
Think again Tess my friend _________________ Genesis 1:1 |
