hes got good pace and top skills, remember he got picked up at pick #23 as a bottom aged player, he must be half decent!

I think its pretty clear he can play. Why else would the club have been prepared to nab him with the 23rd selection?

Quote:
Ryan Cook

Details:
Club: Rosebud/Dandenong Stingrays
DOB: 16 February 1988 Hgt:186cm Wgt: 79kg
Position: Half Forward/Midfielder
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
Victorian State Screening 2005
Stingrays B&F 2005 4th

Statistics:
2004 TAC Cup: did not play TAC Cup
2005 TAC Cup: 21 games, 23 goals, average 17.6 PPG, average 4.4 MPG, 11 times in best

TAC Awards:
2005 TAC Cup Morrish Medal: 0 votes
2005 TAC Cup Coaches award: 20 votes

Background:
Bottom age player from Rosebud, Cook had a pretty impressive season – his first in the TAC Cup – playing every match for the Dandenong Stingrays. Aside from that he was a part of the first Vic Metro trial squad. Predominatly played around half forward, it is likely we would see more of Cook on the wing next season if he happens to be overlooked in this draft. Overall his fitness testing at screening was quite reasonable and his overhead marking is his clear strength. Kicked three goals in the TAC Cup Grand Final.

Strengths:
- Strong mark
- Shows good attack on footy, will get in and scrap for it
- Moves well

Weaknesses:
- may need to wait another season to build up, play representative footy and play more of a midfield role.
- 50% goal conversion this season – 23.23 for the year. Some games really didn’t have the kicking boot on

Footy Draft verdict:
He would be a speculative selection, but is definitely one of those players who fits the “draft late as bottom age” theory because he’ll potentially go quite high next year. Cannot be rookie listed as he is too young.

I think he was the youngest drafted and could have played another year in the under 18s so dont reckon he will play seniors this.He might have been top 10 pick in this years draft.

Well said. We have invested well in both Cooky and JA - both bottom aged players.

Although this year's crop is supposedly as good as 2001's Superdraft of Judd, Ball, Hodge.

yeah but, how's the depth? After the top three, it fell away significantly.

We've taken the punt and pulled 2 guys out of next years draft. I hope the depth is good cos I'm not planning on us getting a top 10 pick this year Very Happy
