Marty came here to play a game he knew little about and within twelve months was playing at the highest level in the land. You've got to admire the talent and determination to be able to do that. I wish him well and would like to think he would be welcomed back to Collingwood either as a player if he wants, or as a respected ex-player/guest. He certainly deserves our best wishes for what he gave us in my opinion.

Different attitude and different values are clearly held by the Irish. In the CTV interviews he was clearly the smartest at the club. Some say AFL is a waste of time, chasing around a bit of red leather for 10 years, hoping to be part of the 5% that actually get over 100 games. Unless they set themselves up for a career outside of football they are going to struggle to get by.

Look at Chris Bryan, decent end of 2008, moved into a new house, has a kid. Now delisted, will be in a tough situation financially especially when his body stops holding up.

he would of earnt enough to own his house or at least a good percentage, I'm sure he will cope like the rest of us mere mortals.
