What if they named it after Luke Ball?

It would be LSAC. Very Happy

Classic thread Laughing

Have been hearing a few stories that Goldy might be a late withdrawal, so I wouldn't jump the gun just yet.

this is a joke, right?

yes, its a joke.

Glen Eira Council with funding is building a humungous swim / gym complex that is OTT & very pricey. However, it will have great facilities including a fabuluous looking water slide & cater for a lot of different sports.

It's called GESAC & is located on East Boundary Road, East Bentleigh.

http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=gesac%20glen%20eira&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gesac.com.au%2F&ei=mPPOTsn6CaSeiAfekOTaDg&usg=AFQjCNGvd7vbbsTnaRABzOOMqxkJb_d2mQ

Before council amalgamations there was a pool (still is) called the Carnegie Memorial Swim Centre which consisted of a 50 meter pool, a smaller pool with a water slide & a toddlers pool as well as a dive pool all outdoors.

Neighbouring Bentleigh also had a pool complex - out doors was in a different council then. Post amalgamation Glen Eira inherited two pools. The politics of the time also had it that people on the south side of the council - south of North road (I'm not being smart) felt that the northern part of the area were getting favourable treatment so building a complex where it is now helped to assuage (sorry - I'll be wating for the Julian lines) those type of concerns.

Post amalgamations, with a council set against spending money on public assets they chose to rationalize. Praise too to the the many community minded folk who have been organizing for pool redevlopments etc. Unfortuately what they got is a huge corporate complex which will be fine for those who can afford to pay - in fact it will be fantastic for those.

The nostalgia with old pools like Brunny baths in my youth & Carnegie pools were the signs: No running, no diving, no necking, no horseplay...

OH so it's called GESAC. Should be able to fit him in somewhere, eg maybe could hire him for promo of the new center. Goldsack at the GESAC talking up the facilities.
