The Age REAL FOOTY PODCAST:

https://www.theage.com.au/podcast/the-age-real-footy-podcast/why-collingwood-will-win-the-grand-final-20180924-p505oa.html

Two Pies-supporting journos, a Rich. supporter & Bartel...

Gleeson or Niall asks: did the run of zero injuries count against Rich., because they didn't develop other players?
Wilson answers: they tried other players, e.g. Baker, and those other players weren't good enough.

I too feel that credit is being taken away from Collingwood for their demolition job on Richmond. On SEN yesterday morning, the general narrative was that Martin and Astbury were clearly not right and shouldn't have played, and that the 2 byes Richmond had clearly disadvantaged them and the top teams in general - no such mention of West Coast having the same 2 byes, nor of Collingwood's 6 day break off a cut-throat final.

Having said that, it's probably good that many aren't giving us due credit yet...doing so may give the players a false sense of security and think they're over the line already.

Don't expect anything from anyone. Don't read the papers, watch the football shows or listen to radio. No one will really give us a fair go or gives us the credit we deserve. It'll be the usual anti Collingwood sentiment; idiots like roos and brown creaming themselves over the eagles or saying 'rich didn't show up'. Molloy rolling out the same old jokes. We've earned the right to play in the GF. Everyone else can get stuffed.

Roos isn't completely wrong that Richmond didn't turn up to play in the first half. They had a lot of passengers last night, and both their injury gambles backfired big time. When it's 10 goals to 2, it's generally because the team on top is playing very well but also because the team behind played terribly.

Sorry, I don't buy that. The first 5-10 mins of the game, the Tigers were on fire, and but for some bad kicking could have been 3 goals before we fired a shot. The fact is, we matched their intense pressure and then made the most of our chances. Score board pressure then began to take its toll on the hapless, helpless Tigers. Once big Cox took control in that 5-7 minute period in the 2nd quarter, the Tigers knew they were well and truly phucked. Make no mistake, the tigers gave everything they had, but it simply wasn't good enough.

WCE are clearly superior to Richmond. We need to continue the upward trajectory.
