Can it be possible if the afl can award the pies an extra 4 points due to the stuff up

They have only reversed one AFL match result that I can think of. And it involved Freo a few years back. So, yeah, they have done it.

I agree with others above. The AFL is incredibly arrogant and I'm sure this was no 'technical error', but the usual clear and obvious Collingwood hating rubbish that goes on everywhere.

Are the field umpires not in communication with the score review bods. Common sense would say the ump just indicated what was the basis and not start play until we are clear ( as possible).

It did not effect the result but it sure as hell didn't help. FACT results are an accumulation of what happens - umpiring included. We played poorly but with a share of luck could have won the match.

But we should have been better than that.

Howe being dragged to the ground without the ball was a free kick, which Freo directly got a goal from. Last quarter, red time. THAT cost us.

Its just embarrassing for the league in general. Hard to take the comp seriously when they introduce score reviews and then get such an obvious decision so completely wrong.

This was a simple blunder of the review group looking at the wrong phase of play. Its probably because it was close to being touched by Sidey that the team thought that is what collingwood was appealing.

The total lack of communication between umpires and the review panel is what the error was. i am certain that the pies communicated to the umpire who touched it. The umps probably arrogantly said "they'll look at it mate" without communicating the info they had on the field to the booth.

Unprofessional. Hick league.

Just happened again in the WCE v Dogs game!
Identical, touched off the boot but they only reviewed it on the goal line.

Just saw this! Really shows the AFL up as arrogant flogs. You would think it would have been communicated to umps and review officers to be extra vigilant today, but nooo...

TP. I'm obviously using the same laptop as the score review officials.

If it was the final act of the game, it would be feasible to change the result. But just like removing one of the infinity stones from its rightful place in time, divergent destinies have happened due to the situation, so it can't be changed otherwise the universe will lapse into chaos. *nods to the Ancient One*

Not going to say it's the reason we lost despite the obvious media narrative, but this is amateur hour by the AFL and heads have to roll at AFL house.

M. Gleeson:

"Review the review

The AFL’s goal review system gets more decisions right than wrong. That is not a defence it is a criticism.

The goal review should not get any wrong. The worst it should be is inconclusive and hand it back to the umpire’s on ground decision. You can’t have a review system so flawed that it misses its fundamental point of providing greater certainty and integrity.

We have raised the review system several times before in this column, so let’s just say this week’s video review offering was a new howler. The Saturday bungle where Chris Mayne plainly touched a ball off the boot could be called a shocker only you can’t be shocked by these any more."

Barrett:

"How such incompetence can be tolerated in 2019, 10 seasons after the AFL committed to attempting to remove the "howler" after Geelong's Tom Hawkins was awarded a non-goal in the 2009 Grand Final, is mind blowing.

The venue for the latest mistake was the MCG. Camera positions have been long established. "Technical reasons" probably means "lack of communication".

How the "review" of the Walters goal only focused on the goal-line aspect of the kick, and not the obvious, off-the-boot touching of the ball by Pie Chris Mayne, is embarrassing."

It sucks, and is totally pathetic from the AFL, particularly if it happened again in the West Coast game.

Can't say it cost us the game. Plenty of missed opportunities.

Possibly karma after Cal Brown's half-marathon to goal against Sydney which won us that game.

The green maggots had an agenda from the powers to be. We were screwed all day long by them for all the non free kicks and out of bound calls and ruck contests. This cheating was so plain to see and the technical **** up is insulting to the club and fans at best.
