I watched a film called Network last night. It's a potent satire of the television industry that is as relevant today as it was in 1976. One of the main characters is a ruthless female TV executive, who has a brief affair with an older employee. The latter gives this monologue as their relationship falls apart:

Diana is quite a two-dimensional, archetypal character, but reading this schoolgirl's twitter account today made me think of her. People like this actually exist.
Make no mistake, what she is doing here is quite malicious. It's hard to imagine what exactly the players were doing or thinking, but at the end of the day these were private photographs that serve no public interest whatsoever. There is nothing illegal or morally wrong about being photographed naked, and the only difference between this and that sordidly moronic Lara Bingle affair is that the players were willingly photographed. At the end of the day, however, it's still private.
There is something quite wrong about the world that this should even be a news story. What this story is actually about is celebrity obsession, lack of privacy, and amoral media organisations scraping the bottom of the barrel for advertising dollars, along with everything else that defines our media today. This girl is just a product of it all.

Hmm let me see David. A 17 year old girl and a player or players have sex. Then they treat her like crap, whilst she is pregnant with one of their babies, which dies in october. Then she humiliates them back. How is that not 1-1 play on?
