Well, at least Mitchell wont be getting 40-50 disposals against us anymore!!

That only leaves Parish and Cripps to accumulate them at will against us now lol

This had to happen. Very pleased. We needed the inside coverage and bigger body, and we need the things he's best at. All he has to do is get the ball into the hands of Nick Daics and Beau McCreery as they enter the midfield, and Pendles, Lippa and de Goey before that happens, and we're a better side.

Great value pick up for the role we have in mind.

There is a strange narrative which snakes through the internet.

To clear things up for Tom:

Using Crispy as a comparison.

Tom Mitchell Career Highlights
Brownlow Medal: 2018
Leigh Matthews Trophy: 2018
2× All-Australian team: 2017, 2018
3× Peter Crimmins Medal: 2017, 2018, 2021
AFL Rising Star nominee: 2013
Lou Richards Medal: 2018

The Peter Crimmins Medal is Hawthorn's best and fairest.

Jack Crisp Career Highlights
2x Copeland Trophy: 2021, 2022

Both 29.

Good post. We all love Crisp. They play different roles but Mitchell will be good for us. Probably a bargain for what we traded out.

They can talk about the 4 games (for 4 wins) they played together.

Yup; rounds 1/2/3 and the later flogging of the swans at Vic Park, in Daic's final game for the club.

We did a dog's act by taking Mitchell in that draft after he left Sydney, as everybody knew he wanted to get to Carlton for 1993.
We spared him a spot in a losing GF side; you're welcome.
Although we relented and traded him over at the end of 1993.
He got his wish to play in that 1995 Carlton flag team [their last].

There’s so much more to what Tom can bring our team then what he brought at Hawthorn.

He suits our game plan to an absolute tee.

A ball winner who’s job will be to win the ball and dish it out to our players who will run.

He also has a huge tank, so no worries about him being able to fit our game plan of spreading and running offensively and defensively.

We will, at some stage, have Tom, Scott, daicos, adams, crisp and degoey all running through our midfield at some stage.

Honestly, that’s a team that can win games.

What? Costing us the game against the swans in 1986 at Vic Park, just prior to the riot?

Mitchell was at Hawks for 5 years. Won the B&F 3 times, came second and came fifth. Don’t let anyone talk him down - will be huge for us.

Was indeed; I was at all four games.
But we kinda knew that was it for Daics, for 1993 anyhoo.
The early 1994 sacking was a disgrace, and a permanent stain on the club.

Every game this year it seemed like we lost the clearances at the centre bounce time after time. If Mitchell can alleviate this then we we win by bigger margins and we don’t loose the prelim by 1 point.
Simple as that
