Can Adams and Mitchell play basically the same role at Collingwood?

Can't see why not as we don't have anyone else on the List(Before Trading for Mitchell) that can play that role at AFL Level

They need to be able to play a 2nd position.
Not sure that you want the two of them at the same CB or stoppage. Both are undersized compared to the big modern mids and they both have limited abilities by foot. At CBs in particular, you'd only be looking at having one other mid in there if both Tay and Tom are in which restricts our creativity. More importantly, these two guys would help us best with quick hands to good distributers so with 2 of them going for the first dibs and only one waiting for the receive, then the oppo just has to shut the one receiver down and we are back at square 1. Around the ground it mightn't matter so much.
They are both up around 75% TOG with Mitchell spending more time on ground than Tay so you can't just have them jobshare through the bench.
Therefore, each of them needs to know how to rotate somewhere else on the ground. |

I think if you were to put both of the clearance bulls (Adams and Mitchell) at a centre bounce, you would then add a Rolls Royce to compliment them (Pendlebury or N.Daicos etc).
If you only went with one of bull at the centre, then you would balance that with a couple of hybrids (Crisp, De Goey, Lipinski etc). Maybe even one development or part time on-baller.
Gives the mid-field coach a bit more to work with. |

Thanks for that. McRae will have to plan for the two bulls to complement each other and be an awesome pair together. Should be exciting to watch.

I've never rated Tom Mitchell but happy to wait and see what he can provide. I'm a little concerned with the age, pace and longevity of our engine room and not sure our game style is conducive to this style of player. Should we have been looking at more line breakers? Dunno, but I'm sure greater minds have thought this out better than I have. Regardless, welcome, Tom

Mitchell will be one of our top 6 players. if not in the top 3.
I can see no reason why Jordy, Adams and Mitchell can't spend the most minutes in the middle together. They would be my starting 3.
No need to overthink it, the reason 3 of these types don't play at the same time is because clubs don't usually have this type of quality at the same time. |

Crisp was about 21yo when we got him wasn't he?
To me that's not really a mature age recruit. |

Since Luke Ball, Travis Varcoe or Levi Greenwood. But I reckon Jeremey Howe has them all covered from a 'mature age recruit'. Actually, I might cast that out to a vote in a seperate thread. We need some fresh content in the off-season.
