On Josh Carmichael there is some worrying problem’s as his concussion symptoms have lingered a little longer and he has not played now for 42 days

It has been suggested his symptoms are similar to Nathan Murphy

The way that article has been written suggests it's terminal. They haven't left much room for a comeback. Poor Josh that's another horrible turn of events re players with concussion. I wonder if Wade's injury review will change this week as for the first time in 5 weeks Josh as listed as being in the concussion protocols.

There has been padded headwear tested by a university professor from Monash with speciality in crash dynamics and it was found to reduce the likelihood of concussion by 90%.

Pioneered in Fremantle, WA. The professor tested it working out of ECU.

So why aren't the AFL at least trialling it? It has been more than year since tests were performed on this new headwear.

Most likely because they want their own version of it so that they can make as much money as possible saying that it’s AFL approved! They are sneaky buggers when profits are there to be made!

It certainly seems likely that Josh Carmichael's footy career has come to a premature end. He showed a lot of promise and I was a great fan, hoping that he could force his way into our team. However, given his recent history of multiple concussions, I hope he can see the wisdom of pulling the pin on his footy career now, before he does any further permanent damage to his brain. All we can do is wish him well.

Carmichael has been under concussion protocols since mid May.
Was on the injury list prior to the Crows game with delayed concussion, working through AFL protocols. Has been listed as concussion since then.

We're really looking at that bye. I think we can still beat the Dogs who have injuries of their own. The Dees will be the tough one. Then we face the Roos before the bye. Once we're at Gold Coast, 9 of the 15 are back with 2 more another week off.

We can beat the Dogs. We can beat the Roos. Dees, dunno.

I was thinking about this comment all game.

Well, we went 2-1.

Collingwood is about to start getting some injury reprieve after the bye with Mihocek set to be available against Gold Coast. De Goey is also pushing his case to be available for the trip to Queensland, while Pendlebury might need another week. Oleg Markov missed Sunday's win over North Melbourne after jarring his back but will be available for selection. – Josh Gabelich
