As far as the protests go, I'm yet to be convinced that in this day and age there is any justification for these self aggrandizing spectacles of douchery. Any of these peanuts resisting arrest, assaulting Police or Police Horses, other violence or vandalism should get 14 days in remand straight off the bat, any charges and/or convictions on top of that.

Good news is apparently of the close contacts from the Prahran market, 60% of tests are back and all negative so we may just be on track to end lockdown on time. (touch wood)

I just find it funny to watch a lot of people who justified the BLM protests and absolutely ripped shreds off ScoMo for his comments about protesters earlier this year now getting stuck into these protesters.

You're right, protesters are always dickheads and most of their antics just turn people more against their cause and police should have the power to stop any protest.

But for the lefties, that includes XR, BLM, Cup Day and Invasion Day protests as well and that won't sit well with them...

In Victoria, 11 new local cases and 1 new case acquired overseas (currently in HQ).
- 32,385 test results were received. The Government says that "The 11 new locally-acquired cases are all linked to the current outbreaks. All were in quarantine throughout their entire infectious period".

From NSW Health:

Quote:
NSW recorded 141 new locally acquired cases of #COVID19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

Quote:
Of these locally acquired cases, 87 are linked to a known case or cluster – 71 are household contacts and 16 are close contacts – and the source of infection for 54 cases is under investigation.

Quote:
Sixty-five cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 24 cases were in isolation for part of their infectious period. Thirty-eight cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 14 cases remains under investigation.

So, translating that in the usual way, it means that they don't know the source of 54 of the cases and that at least 62 and up to 76 cases were infectious in the community for part or all of their infectious period.

... and:

Quote:
A woman in her late 30s from Sydney CBD died at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. A woman in her 70s from south west Sydney died at Campbelltown Hospital. NSW Health expresses its deepest condolences to the loved ones of both women.

According to Gladys (via the ABC blog) the former was a "woman in her 30s with no pre-existing conditions".

For those following the "Infectious in the community" stat, Covid Live is now following it.

Protestors would be highly unlikely to get tested so we won't know they've spread it until/unless we get a sudden spate of unlinked cases.

Hopefully does not but that is a Good Possibility as Delta spread very easily.

Also them all not being Vaccinated(I know some Couldn't because of Age but they still would not)

In the UK, COVID cases were down 4% last week compared to the week before that (from about 296,000 to about 284,000). The 7-day moving average of new cases is presently about 41,000 per day. That figure has doubled in the last 23 days.

Deaths, however, were up nearly 60% (447 in the last 7 days, compared with 284 the previous week).

The 7-day moving average of deaths per day was 41 per day a week ago. It is now 64. That figure has doubled in the last 11 days.

Allowing for an average 2-week lag between infection and death, the 64 average of deaths per day might be measured against the approximately 30,000 cases per day that was the 7-day rolling average of new cases as of 14 days ago.

That is not good at all.

60% is way too much and showing they most likely they gone way too early on opening things up

Yes, Dave. That's what I take from the figures, too. NSW has 4 deaths in a week and a small but increasing number of cases and it is a national emergency. The UK has about 300,000 cases and 450 deaths in a week and they call it "learning to live with the virus".

For Scommo NSW Outbreak is a National Emergency but last year when Victoria had way bigger Numbers he just said we should not be in Lockdown.

Massive Double Standards by Scommo

This popped up in my Facebook feed.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9821615/The-vaccine-saved-life-PIERS-MORGAN-reveals-caught-Covid-Euros-final.html

So I get that Piers Morgan is far from everyone's cup of tea, but it's actually an informative read, him describing how he caught Covid at the Euro final despite being fully vaccinated, and how it impacted him.
