Always try your best for the current season, but have an eye for the future.
Witts instead of Lynch.
Kennedy in for Blair.
Thomas should get a run, too.
Not sure who we leave out for Witts and Thomas, but they both should play.
Reid, Seedsman, Williams, Brown, Sinclair, Scharenberg, Freeman and perhaps Karnezis and Marsh would utterly change the dimension of this developing team.
Whilst Maxwell's Indian summer of football is encouraging, and to a degree, inspiring, it should not mask the reality that the 'Next Generation' Magpie premiership playing unit should be given every opportunity to be developed in 2014.

Any consideration for bringing in Hudson? I think it would only improve Grundys ability to run out 4 quarters and offer some guidance during the course of the game. |

And the added bonus of a bit of mongrel to combat the plenty that the Tigers have! _________________ Side By Side Forever |

Apparently Pendles, Beams, Maxwell and Dwyer (medial 3-4 weeks) are all hobbling around in moon boots or injured.
An even bigger test of our depth this week.
Kennedy, Witts in line for a call up.
I too wouldn't mind Kyle Martin in the team but they won't play him yet I expect. Thomas has not showed much form in the magoos. _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |

Witts on the other hand doesn't have this, showing his best form in the VFL as the #1 ruck. |
Can't disagree that Lynch may provide a better quick fix but I think the more senior game time we can get into Witts the better he'll be. Might be some short term pain but we need to look at the big picture. |

Can't play him until he gets promoted so a moot point. |

Luke Ball & Scotty Burns think we've still got enormous room for improvement...
"I was talking to (assistant coach) Scotty Burns and we feel like we're tracking about five or six out of 10, so we feel like there's plenty of upside but that doesn't get you the four points."

Remember so far few have lost to last years Grand Finalist, beaten Sydney away (who just thumped Adelaide away) and lost a close one to the Cats. We are doing quite well despite having 4-5 1st choice players out.
Out: Adams (sus), Dwyer
In: Josh Thomas, Kyle Martin
Matchups:
- Macaffer on Cotchin
- Frost on Riewoldt
- Keeffe on Vickery
Tigers only have Stephenson and Griffiths rucking at the moment, Grundy should be able to compete well against them. There might not be a need for Goldsack this week (although until Reid is back as swingman he might be a lock).
Cloke isn't going to get the same treatment he got from Lonergan, but still could possibly use more help from someone like Lynch. I'm a bit unsure if we would ever play White and Lynch in the same side however. Fasolo was pretty terrible in his first game back.. but let's give him the benefit of the doubt.
They haven't beaten us since 2007, and last time Cloke/Sidey shared 11 goals.. _________________ ------------

anytime from now on depending on how many incidents need to be reviewed. I've seen it come out as early as 2pm and as late as 5:30pm.... keep your eye on Twitter.
mackasmatt - you're outs presume we're not losing anyone apart from Dwyer to injury.
Have to admit I started to wonder who the hell we'd bring back in if we do lost 3-4 to injury plus the Adams suspension.
I know Pendles had 26 on Sat night and they're all lauding Guthrie's game and conveniently ignoring the fact that Pendles wasn't covering the ground very well. Thought he looked slower than usual.
If, and we're presuming there are, injuries, we cannot afford to keep carrying players. Lets get everyone fit and rip this comp a new one in the second half of the year. _________________ Side By Side Forever |

Anyone see how sore Pendles was getting up after sitting down with the boys after the game? He really struggled.
I know even from my playing days that can happen but usually some time after the game than that shown on Ch 7. He looked to be struggling with a big ice pack glad wrapped to his lower leg / ankle region.
I hope they don't play Pendles if he is injured despite the fact that players ought to be playing with niggles etc. However it looked like an injury from my viewpoint on the sofa...
I think he sustained the leg injury last week & aggravated this week in his 2nd tough game in a row.
Swan too looks tired. _________________ âI even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didnât keep âem under long enoughâ Kinky Friedman |
