It was his first game. It was a rock solid display.

Can't ask or expect much more than that.

Tick.

Absolutely. Composure beyond his years. Weve found another one.

Clearly a backman.

Must never be played as a forward.

(We all know that players can't reliably kick goals until they have mastered the ball drop.)

Is he tall enough to wear Thommo's number, though, really?

Settle, the kid is at least 8cm shorter than Reid and is no more a KPP than Langdon is, but he did well in his first game

So are you suggesting that he cant have the same shape as Ben Reid cos hes 8cm shorter?

What about Dr. evil and Mini me?

Well, you could have Mick Molloy's body shape, that wouldn't make you a comedian. (mind you, neither is he)

My mistake thinking Murphy wasn't ready to play senior footy. He's one of those players who plays whatever standard of footy he competes in. Reminds a bit of Toovey except is a far superior kick. Great pickup by Hine. I would keep playing him. Madgen I think would be the one under pressure when Howe returns to the side.

WPT to the rescue at the last moment! I was beginning to think that that one had gone straight through to the keeper. Smile

Congrats to Nathan on his debut.

A solid first game and great to see him get a taste of senior footy. Hopefully that drives him to push himself even harder this year and this off season.

As I noted recently, he is 190cm and expected to grow to 195cm he tells me.
They hope he then plays at 90kg.
Like Scharenberg, but quicker and better athletically.

I dunno about his nuts, other than to say they're probably red. But height-wise, plenty of guys keep growing until 21 so there's lots of scope for growth.

So yeah. He's a good mark, great kick, could grow to KPP and he loves a scrap. Anyone else remember him getting his nose broken against Coburg. Came back on and played better, if anything.

Today was a nice debut. Really happy for the kid.

You seem surprised that a player, at 18, might have grown 2cm since his height was measured at the start of the season for the club's records? It's not my theory about his height potential but something that the man himself told me which presumably the club's doctors have indicated to him. Most athletes which have been through elite junior sporting programs will have had medical assessments about their physical development potential. As indicated previously, he said it was somewhat associated with a broken bone in his arm stunting his pace of growth at some stage. I'm no doctor, so can't verify it.

He's never done a proper pre-season, as an accomplished junior cricketer, until this year either. So there is plenty of scope for his fitness and body shape to evolve and improve too. But no, I can't see him being Ben Reid like in his role and body shape either. He'll be quicker and less prone to falling over his own feet than Reid and probably more durable, given 99% of players are. That'll be a good start.

Lots to like about the way he conducted himself yesterday too. Skills were good and he didn't panic, when a few around him were.

Had a sense of assuredness and fearlessness which you don't often get from a 1st gamer.
