Worried about our clearances.
Thrashed is more like it
Great defense and good attack.
Kicked sttaight in the last half.
Sier does handball a little too much.
Good overall efort.
9 wins 3 losses from the first half of the year.
Anyone would take that.
Looked at the vfl yesterday.
Thought the other Brown looked good at times.
Daics looked ok as wel and he is a good kick.
Bring on the dogs |

That free kick against Darcy Moore for deliberate out of bounds in the first quarter was pathetic!
Inaccuracy kept the Dees in it. Dees butchered some chances though.
In the end good to have a win. _________________ Sydney Collingwood Supporters Club

Played no where near their best but still won comfortably. Looks like a lot of players are playing with niggles so the break has come at the perfect time. Rest up lads and enjoy some time off and come back and own the second half of the year. Go Pies! |

Just saw the Jeremy Howe screamer that was now awarded a mark, and instead awarded as a free kick against him for studs in the back.

Look, I think that is underestimating the evenness of the competition and the unpredictability of performances due to the high, pressurized nature of the game. Melbourne should have defeated Adelaide, who then went on to defeat GWS. I just think that the skill errors we see need to be viewed in a different way. Sometimes, apparently gross skill errors are due to perceived pressure etc. Melbourne had plenty of errors today, but many of them were due to us, not just that they were rubbish. Errors are absolutely an inevitable component of the game. The major question is: what is the cause of the errors? I think tonight that we applied enough physical and psychological pressure to Melbourne to ensure that alot of their errors were due to us rather than themselves. This game for mine is a real basis for rational optimism. We looked so much better with a big bodied mid in our midfield complement; our defence is magnificent and our attack can only get better with Jamie waiting in the wings and Cox searing off the rust. A very significant win today, I thought. |
An excellent read of the game I reckon MTTM. Our pressure was vastly improved today and it was a much better performance overall.
As you mention and someone else did previously as well, having Sier in the team reduced the in and under load on some other players like Treloar and Sidey and freed them up more on the outside. Let's hope that he can become a permanent presence.
Thought the delivery into the forward line was pretty effective too. |

M Gleeson: "Collingwood were belted in the middle of the ground and in the ruck by a rampant Max Gawn, but Nathan Buckley was pleased his team had taken a big step forward in rediscovering its form after a poor month."
Buckley: "We were smacked at clearances, Max Gawn was a really strong factor in that, but most of their midfielders had big games. 'Brodes' had his moments late and fought through but we were largely coming off the back foot. We were minus 17 in clearances, minus 30 in contested ball, so we must have been doing something right in transition to be able to control the game for as long as we did.
"That’s an outlier for us. If we played again next week you would like to think we can handle that better but it’s a real positive how we set the ground up and defend. Especially the centre bounce, we got smacked there as well and we were still were able to kick 2.2 going our way and kept Melbourne to three or four points."
"Smacked"?? What happened to "nutted"? |

Gee I keep saying but when Shaz (high efficiency player) Elliot (an X factor)
Tay (toughest mid in our team) get their fitness and game legs as noted by many here that the whole 22 exhibited today real pressure be a tough gig for selection _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right

Seems like Gleeson's "report" is simply a paraphrase of Bucks' comments. Our defence was absolutely fantastic tonight. It held up throughout the night, our mids ran back as well to help out. It was great how Bucks defended Brodie G and explained why he was not at his best. Even so, I thought Grundie did plenty throughout the game. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

Today Brody was down in game fitness and to go against Gawn one has to be spot on——but a dominant Gawn offset by a more cohesive opponent _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |
