Would have liked to have seen how this worked alongside Cox at full forward. May have opened up opportunities for Mihochek as the third target.

Big mistake dropping Cox, he takes two defenders. Put him in the ruck so Grundy can drift forward. He has a bit of unpredictable X factor compared to Cameron.

Worst mistake was playing Keane against the WC forward line. When Howe went down, we were stuffed and should have moved Moore there immediately. Not just for the matchups but ball movement out of defence, that’s what Moore gives us back there. He has to play back against Daniher on Anzac Day

Moore was selected in the 2020 All Australian team as the CHB.

All this talk of "Play him at CHB vs CHF" indicates to me that we have a team that is in trouble.
We are trying to spread one player over two positions. This idea never works out in football.
What we need to be doing is identifying potential or ready-made CHFs for the team and developing/recruiting them.
That way the argument would become something like "Do you think we should play Moore up front this week?".

^^^ Well said TC. We robbed Paul to pay Peter. One thing though, losing Howe and JDG made it hard to judge, two of our most important forward and back players. Our forward entries were woeful, long bombs that WC defenders love.

You all do realise that it is much easier for less talented players to play in defence than in the forward line!

So why would you want your best KP player wasted at FB or CHB?

Imagine the Hawks had this backline:

B: Puopolo, Roughhead, Bruest
HB: Gunstan, Franklin, Rioli

It would be the best defence in the history of football....but then they would have to rely on Gibson, Lake and Frawley to kick their goals. Good luck!!

Moore up forward with Will Kelly and Mihocek.
Build the remainder of the team around that focal point.

I always remembered the Sydney Swans coach when talking about Kelly. He said 'I'll stick him in the forward line - if he's no good he'll do less damaged' - I don't think your argument less talented players play in defense holds water. That is at least one outside coach that doesn't agree. MM also held defenders in high esteem and Bucks is another that is often criticized for being too defensively minded. Moore has been in the backline because he is a good reliable player.

Correct weight.

A forward line of de Goey (when he returns), Moore, Mihocek, Daicos and Sidey would be a winnable line-up imo. Next week, without de Goey, I'd play Pendles forward in his place.

Naturally our defence would have to be re-jigged, but we have Roughead, Madgen, Keane and Kelly available as tall defenders.

I’m sure Clarkson and Lethal would disagree.
Sydney won with Barry Hall at FF, Goodes roaming the forward line and Nick Davis crumbing. Not too bad of a set up.
WCE in 2006 are the only side who didn’t have a strong focal point at FF.
Until we have one we will not win a flag.

Moore was originally sent back because he suffered the yips when hooting for goal (think Sav Rocca at his worst). He started well enough, but notice his last two shots on goal saw the return of those yips and reminded me why he went back.

the beauty of Mihocek is that he is dead eye and so needs less opportunities.

I agree.....except I'd play Will Kelly in defence, to replace Moore. Kelly was recruited as a defender after all.

Yes definitely, if we keep Moore forward then play Kelly at CHB. Roughead doesn’t have long left so we need to recruit some decent KPP for the future.

I admit I don't watch Essendon closely. Do they have another Daniher now Joe's gone to the Bears?

All last year posters were calling for Moore to the forward line
Moore gets moved to forward line posters call for Moore to CHB
Perhaps wait till Moore has played more than one game as a forward
