Jordy missed I think due to him missing weeks during the year more so than his average output. Couple injuries and the suspension have cost him.
Lots of other good midfielders missed - a bit of a tight squeeze when you are also going to pick actual wingers on the actual wing (Gulden and Daicos). Those two spots would normally have been awarded to generic midfielders.
Think Bont missed out on the fictional “Captain” acknowledgement probably because the Dogs have been so patchy, and Darcy probably missed because the last third of his season was a little patchy and also because he missed with injury and the team looked a little wobbly.
I could care less (as I’m sure would all players) - flags are the ultimate prize. _________________ It's never as good/nor bad as it seems... |

Well if you judge a captain based on winning a game off your own boot, then Greene has Darcy well covered. |
I do not.

But yes, on further inspection, you are correct – it was an Obama thing and Biden probably stole it off him, lol. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Well a certain pie supporter had a go at me a few years ago when I suggested that I would trade Grundy for English in a heart beat.
This was when Grundy was thrashing a young English in the ruck.
Well well now English is in the all Australian team and Grundy is in the VFL.
I was right!!!! |

Yes, Peter McKenna isn't as good as Aaron Naughton, either. |

And, of course, he's still better than Naughton.... |

Darcy’s taller than Toby so should have been named captain. |

As for English, he’s not the best ruckman in the competition yet.
Rohan Marshall ( also nominated ) has been much more prolific around the ground than English, for mine. Brad Johnson has done everything to get English a guernsey since early May but hopefully the selectors dont get sucked in by it.

Most in the media believe that... But this isn't recognition of it (yet). 'Cos he's not the only ruckman in the squad.
And they might choose two ruckmen in the final cut... So it might not be clear even then.
The CD rankings agree with the AA selectors:
1. Tim English
2. Rowan Marshall
3. Kieren Briggs
4. Jarrod Witts
5. Max Gawn
6. Sean Darcy
7. Reilly O'Brien
8. Todd Goldstein
9. Oscar McInerney
...
Well, Luke Jackson is also in the squad. Dunno if the selectors reckon he's a ruckman or forward... |
English got the only AA ruckman spot.
But...
A lotta media folks now say Gawn is the best ruckman in the league. Matthew Lloyd and Paddy D said it's just that until 7 weeks ago, Gawn had Grundy's corpse getting in his way.
So maybe the failed Gawndy experiment cost Gawn another AA. Wonder if that cost him a lotta money. |
