Sidebottom has tried his heart out today. Thought he has been one of our best. As Mr Miyagi pointed out, the apparent errors he made often flowed from our lack of run, and therefore the inability to generate creative options for him when he had the ball in hand. |
Did you see him miss the front on tackle in the last minute or 2.
Did you see the 2 crap kicks in quarter 1 where a good kick would have got a goal.
Our midfield has been terrible all year.
And sidey has been a big part of that |
Extraordinarily selective - when we were pushing in the third quarter, it was mostly him. He was involved in a whole lot of scoring chances that were all fluffed by other players (see, eg, Varcoe's set shot point after Sidebottom's brilliant work). The only reasonable conclusion one can reach is that people who don't rate Sidebottom's brilliance actually have no understanding of the game. |

One major question for me is how can it happen, time and time again, that when Cox goes into the ruck for Grundy in the centre, he gets a clean tap, but it goes straight down the throat of the opposition? How can it be that Cox and our midfield are so lacking in any kind of connection? It seems that the opposition mids are tuned into Cox far more than ours are.

It's frustrating isn't it? He wasn't doing that in the first half of the season. It just shows how mentally tired and shot our players are. |

This. It's all very questionable isn't it Mr Miyagi? Either Grundy doesn't do a quick check as to where our mids are positioned, or our mids aren't getting in the right position. |

Bit of both I'd say. Martin knew exactly where Grundy was going to tap that ball. He had no opponent on him either, compared to our mids who had opponents riding their asses. |
