There are a few people I would like to see red carded on this site before the robot. The ones who deliberately blaspheme sacred parts of our club and can't go one sentence without using foul language to yell their point across.

Are we really sure that Hal is a computer bot and not someone pretending to be a bot?

I once had an eerie experience with Hal that made me think he might be human after all. Shocked

Congrats to PP for starting this one off, as a reward, you get HAL programmed to respond to every one of your posts for 1 year!

Uh, thanks... Confused

Kubrick made "2001 A Space Odyssey" in 1986 with the computer "HAL" as a major aspect of the film. It was seen as futuristic at the time & for some a brilliant movie.

"HAL" however in 2009 was superseded if not supplanted by "Gertie" the computer in the highly accalimed film "Moon" - Gertie communicates with the main actor of the film. Moon was directed by Duncan Jones.

I've seen 2001 but not Moon. The reviews of Moon have been impressive.

Is HAL Gertie?,
Has HAL been replaced by Gertie?
Does HAL have transgender issues?

Keep KAL in - but HAL might need counselling.

Apologies from me with respect to spelling typo's above.

1. Kubrick made the film 2001 in 1968 not 1986 as I put.
2. It should read My hovercraft is full of eels not hovervraft as I inadvertantly put.
3. It should also have read Keep HAL (not KAL) in...but HAL may need counselling.

With respect the the nominated film Starship Troopers - I don't watch much Sci Fi.
I did however enjoy District 9 which I saw recently. No HAL there.

Perhaps I'm just expressing my own concern about it. I do not understand. Where? What do you have that is it?
