if thats your attitude, to actually want us too lose, you may as well bugger off to some other team, a long long life magpies supporter, not once have i ever wanted us to lose or drop a game, this is beyond the pale. Ive had enough of this shit, im logging off Nicks for the week, and wont be back, fed up with this negative bile and loser attitude, three games in, and the shirkers have jumped ship already, ive had a gutful, im outa here until these rabid doomsayers back off a bit. |
Sorry of that offends you, but I just hate watching the way the Pies play at the moment. It's not fun to watch us anymore and that's worse than the W-L ratio of the team.
Our team is worse to watch than Saints and Freo at their defensive prime when scoring 50 points was enough to win a game. |
I always enjoy watching the Pies play, there is always something to take from every game. Yesterday was happy to see Langdon regain form, Aish take another step, Goodyear debut.... It's a game FFS. |

Varcoe and Sidey will both greatly strengthen our team.
However, I think it's finally time to make a big statement at the selection table and drop Cloke. I'd keep Moore, as he needs more games and will only get better, whereas Cloke is a non performer and his best football is behind him. He also thinks his spot is safe, so a couple of weeks in the VFL might do him the world of good.
It's time to drop Bilbo. If we really are to improve this year, then Blair must be replaced by a better player. Same goes for Goldsack, imo. Williams will probably also miss through injury.
Out: Cloke, Williams (inj), Blair, Goldsack
In: Varcoe, Sidebottom, Smith, Cox |

^^This move would make us a far worse team in the short term. One of the main reasons we are struggling at the moment is lack of experience and teammate familiarity, dropping Cloke (who was our best tall against the Saints) and Blair would magnify the problem. _________________ Well done boys! |

Blair was horrid against Saints and should be dropped for Varcoe. Toovey comes in to replace Williams. Sidey for DeGoey who struggled. Howe will get better with match practice and Fasolo is ok. I don't think more than 3-4 changes is warranted. _________________ Daicos, impossible angle ... Goal! |

Give Goodyear another game to see if he can build on his performance yesterday and display the speed he is said to possess.
Moore could do with a stint in the VFL but the cupboard is pretty bare in terms of suitable replacements with White the best choice currently being played in defence. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Getting back our best (and probably our next best) running players in Sidebottom and Varcoe will make a huge difference. It's transition that has been killing us, not disposal or even effort. These two will go a long way to fixing it.
Early in the game when it was a real contest, Reid struggled to defend his man, there would have to be some thought of bringing back Frost to take some of that pressure off him as he works his way back in.
out: Williams
in: Varcoe
Not sure of the out for Sidebottom, but I'm going with Goldscak. Let's load up on running players. The other option would be Goodyear, though harsh on the first gamer inexperience is killing us at the moment.
out: Goldsack
in: Sidebottom _________________ Well done boys!

Out: Maynard In: Tooves - Maynard needs to go back to the VFL and find the touch and form he was displaying at the end of 2015. Tooves was good at VFL level today and is the obvious replacement.
Out: Williams In: Smith - Hope Williams doesn't miss but if he does, Smith has to be promoted. Was sensational today in the VFL.
Out: Grundy In: Witts - Grundy showed some improvement v Saints but our midfield needs better service. I'd play both but Melbourne don't seem to play anyone to support Gawn.
Out: Moore In: White - Moore has been very poor across 3 games and anyone who doesn't think White can offer at least as much and viable ruck support is delusional.
Out: Blair In: Sidebottom - Blair played his worst game in a long long time and someone has to make way for Sidey.
Out: Goldsack In: Varcoe - Sack is pron to starting slow and building over a few weeks so likely he'll be better this week but Varcoe has to come back in. Was a choice between Goody and Goldy but I'd like to see Goody given at least 1 more.
That's 6 changes but I think justified by our performance against the Saints. |

Melbourne look like they played well today against a seasoned opponent.
If they bring that then I don't give us much chance.
Hopefully the Melbourne that lost to Essendon turns up but I doubt it as they generally lift against us. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

I understand the sentiment, but there's a paradox here: part of the reason we're playing poorly is our lack of stability and inexperience. While we want to punish players for poor for performance you do want to balance that against building a strong and cohesive team.
I'd be shocked and disappointed if we played another debutant next week, it would be a mistake. I said the same thing last week, it's not personnel changes that will have us playing better other than the inclusions of Sidebttom and Varcoe. The rest is tinkering and should be left till we're in a better place, this is not the time to be bringing in too many more young blokes it's just going to make things worse. _________________ Well done boys! |

I would also bring back frost was one of the reasons why chop couldn't have the same influence as he did against Richmond where he could set up. Frost is a good lock down back. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

Sidebottom and Varcoe the only certainties to come in.
Smith played well today in the VFL and could be a possibility.
If Williams is out, Toovey is the most obvious choice. He wasn't too bad today and is a better player than Williams anyway.
Hopefully we play with fluency and desire otherwise Eddie might have to call a special board meeting to rubber stamp some changes. _________________ - Side By Side - |
