The fact that a handful of young players have only improved under Buckley highlight why he isn't a senior coach. He is a good development coach but he has no business being a senior one.
Ask yourself, how many senior players have got better under Buckley. It's very scarce. |
I don't think he is a good development coach at all.
Nor a good senior one.
So I am to the left of you
That must put me back and beyond Trollsville.

More than half of that list are walk up starts in most teams first 22. 7 of them were top 10 finishers in the Copeland last year & 0ne our leading goalscorer.
A side simply can't perform with that many of the core group in the stands. |
very true mate, but try telling that too the doomsayers on here who think that amount of talent out of the side, should make not one iota of difference, as they endlessly chirp, "" all sides have injuries." Yes, but take that many outa North, -No injuries- cats, dawks, swans, crows, and see how they bloody well perform, coupled with the fact we have a heap of inexperienced kids learning the caper. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Buckley is best suited IMV as an assistant or a development type coach. But he has no business being a senior one.
Coaching is about tactics to a degree. If you have extensive setups below you, the tactic nous of a coach sometimes isn't the main factor.
But coaching is about psychology. It's getting the best out of players with contrasting personalities. It's about moulded silent, loud, eccentric and other types into one common cause.
I once had the displeasure of sitting next to Nathan and his father when they were watching a VFL game. Their behaviours shocked me. The dad was yelling abuse at individual players when they made a mistake and Nathan just sat there shaking his head at those players.
People have been sucked into Nathan's public speaking skills when assessing him as a coach. |

And I quote...
"You can only say that Alex Fasolo is probably the only player on the list that has improved from 2015 to 2016." - Jez07.
So you make a statement and then shift the goal posts because people express contrary opinions... I see |

Travis Varcoe is now Collingwood's most important player. He is one of the few players that runs and carries the ball.
He has played 1 full game and 1/2 in 7 games. He did his hamstring before the Sydney game, he re-injured his hamstring in the Essendon game. A re-injury of a soft tissue injury is a sure sign there is a conditioning failure.
Marsh also did his hamstring against Port. This is after he ripped his hamstring from the bone in 2014 & 2015.
Other examples like Sinclair. He got knocked out against Melbourne. He missed the next week.
He got knocked out again West Coast and they put him back on the field when concussed. He again missed the next week. This is sheer failure.
Another one is Broomhead. He did his shoulder against Geel. After doing his shoulder, he went back on the field at the direction of the medical staff and then missed weeks as a result.
He did his ankle seriously against Carlton. They put him back on the field when he was clearly injured and now will miss 4 weeks due to this incomptence.
I could go on and on. |
Absolutely 100% correct. When Varcoe is playing well, so is the rest of the team. _________________ - Side By Side - |

Every commentator of the game reckons that Varcoe's first year with us last year was Varcoe's best ever season. Of course you may know differently. |

Of course you know it was all Bux doing.
But give Trav another year or two and he will become like all the other players
under Bux that run around like headless chooks. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Interesting comment from MM about the team he gave Bucks, said he reckons he set us up for a mini dynasty.
So a dynasty is like Hawthorn or Brisbane, 3 flags, so a mini dynasty is? |
