The stats would support this. 2nd, 4th, 6th the last 3 years.
Making finals seems to enough to satiate the mob.

What is obvious to me is that our game style has been worked out.
Quite simply, if you can apply enough pressure to be thereabouts in the middle of the second quarter against Collingwood you are likely to win by a couple goals. Collingwood likes to get out in front by 4 or 5 as a buffer because they tend to lose in the 2nd half by 2 or 3 goals.
It was telling that Bucks said most of our losses were by less than 18 points, except for the 3 ten goal blow outs.
So that will probably get you to 6-8 on the ladder each year for the foreseeable, but it makes a flag quite unlikely unless you get very, very lucky.

I understand that you are bitter mate. However if you don’t think that Collingwood is the team you loved, it may be an opportunity to take a break from barracking for them and following the AFL. Then if you still find that Collingwood isn’t the same, maybe start barracking for someone else. |
well that started early, of all the shit fights here thats the one i hate the most. We are collingwood, if proved otherwise ditch the trolls.
and he has a very valid point. I was in the cheer squad in the 78-82 period, things are very very different. i have made no secret of my loathing for the corrupt AwFuL and their picking and choosing who wins. If you go to ...whatever that concrete jungle building is called now... its just not Vic park. its corporate, and wearing a jumper in the bar there on training day feels horrible. i feel like i need to rip my teeth out and chuck on moccos. something in between would be great, but its just money money money.

You can actually make a lot of comparisons but it requires a detailed understanding of history. Trump will get there. By the time he does, you won't be able to say it out loud. Get in early I say!
Ed did say "Make Collingwood Great Again" a few years back but he also likes to paraphrase JFK as well. He's a man for all Presidents!

I am not seeing some huge inbuilt club wide problem.
The issues that cause us to be just a be a bit behind the best teams the last 3 years are quite obvious:
-We are great defensively most of the time but struggle to score too often. We don't seem to have the attacking balance/focus right.
-We don't seem to be fixing our missing key forward issue.
-We don't convert Grundy into fast centre breaks.
-We have too many injuries to our best talent every year (compared to other finals sides).
Collingwood please fix these.

Without irrational solutions, could you please tell me how we can stop players getting injured on the field? If you disagree that it’s pure bad luck, what is the specific cause we seem to have compared to other teams? Or is it that we conveniently compare us with clubs that seem to have good luck with injuries and ignore the clubs that have similar injury lists to ours?
Lastly there are some very talented and statistically minded posters who produce brilliant stats on various discussion points. Is anyone able to fully compare AFL clubs injury lists over the past 5 years and investigate if we had the most player injuries over that period? That would be very enlightening.
