Watch both marks again, Checkers is the better grab, no doubt about it.
In fact, it's almost identical to John Gerovichs mark in the 1956 WAFL Preliminary final.... they built a statue of it.

Quote:
One famous mark, which he took in the 1956 WANFL preliminary final over East Fremantle's Ray French is commemorated in a statue at Fremantle Oval by local sculptor Robert Hitchcock. The statue was based on an iconic photograph of the mark, taken by The West Australian photographer Maurie Hammond and published on Wednesday, 10 October 1956.The mark is also depicted in Jamie Cooper's painting the Game That Made Australia, commissioned by the AFL in 2008 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the sport.

Agreed! People find it hard to shake received wisdom (see the YouTube comments to the effect of "but ... but ... the commentator said it was second best!!"), but Mihocek's mark was an absolute classic and would have been considered so at any time in the game's history.

Lol 😝 That is very funny 😆
Reminds me of the old saying about there being only two types of AFL Footy fans, Collingwood supporters and those who wished they were🤠

Well done Checkers!!! A feather in your cap to beat Shae Bolton! Love it.

A victory of good over evil. Smile

(Can you imagine Mihocek getting involved in a nightclub brawl??)

This reminds me of the glorious victory of Sidebottom in the Name of the Year vote. Wink

Aren't Richmond supposed to have 100k members, where are they all? Guess the cats and dogs can't vote...

But so funny to see the outrage over it all, yet no one has cared quite so much when our players have genuinely been robbed in previous years.

The mass triggering from non-Collingwood people has been a delight Laughing

We were mocked in 2017 when Howe's mark was overlooked for mark of the year.

Sadly, Gil and co have virtually forced them to choose the nightclub thug's mark as one of the 5 end-of-year wildcards. Sad

So it might still win MOTY. Crying or Very sad
