In the 40th over, the broadcast predictor says Oz 99%, SL 1%.

Odds: Oz 96%, SL 4%.

And off the last ball of the over, another wicket. Richardson gets a second wicket, but he has not bowled well.

SL 8/236 (40).

Richardson picks up his 3rd wicket.

SL 9/237 (41.4).

Broadcast predictor: Oz 99%, SL 1%.

Afghanistan all out 125 (34.1/48 ).

SL all out 247 (45.5).

Oz win by 87 runs.

WI, Pakistan & SL all to some degree threw away wickets and their run chases against Oz. Bowling and batting remain problems. Khawaja and Marsh are not batting well. Starc is causing batsmen problems late but not with the new ball. Maybe they can try Behrendorff with the new ball and save up more Starc overs for late.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/jun/15/australia-sri-lanka-world-cup

"In Australian cricket one of the most intriguing games is Maxwellball. It leaves some spectators thrilled, some frustrated, many both in varying measures.

Glenn Maxwell himself has shown he has the technique and temperament to play orthodox innings in Test and one-day cricket when required but in this World Cup he has been liberated to play his unique version of the game. The only rule: when Maxwell arrives at the batting crease, you have no idea what is going to happen next. That is Maxwellball."

Yep. He's a freak. Love the man. Smile

On the other hand, if the Aussies are going to play both Starc and Behrendorff, it's the latter who should open, with Cummins. Starc rose to his position of great respect with his ability to take a wicket or two, early, with swing. Over there, he's not getting any but is still potent in the later overs.

Yesterday's 2 opening overs were unbelievably poor. Repeatedly short and outside off, the SL openers must've thought it was their birthdays. Such gifts. Both Starc and Cummins were 0/12 from 1 over. How Warner would've loved that at the start of his innings !! The Lankans gave him nothing. Malinga even bowled a maiden to him.

Just as well Maxy and Richardson bowled well, to drag the scoring rate back. Till then, SL was cruising.

I don't think K. Richardson bowled well. I don't think I've ever seen him bowl economically. Sure, his trick balls may be too good for number 10 & 11 batsmen, but more is needed than that.

A bit harsh, K ?

Went for just 5.22 when they needed at least 7 r.p.o. to keep the total in view, and took 3 wickets.

Finch commended his bowling, with Maxwell, being the 2 that dragged back the SL run rate.

K. Richardson:

8th over: 8 runs; 10th over: 8 runs (+ lost review); 12th over: 7 runs; 29th over: 5 runs; 31st over: 2 runs; 33rd over: 4 runs + wicket ("rubbish" ball, as Ian Healy was calling them, hit in the air to Maxwell); 40th over: 7 runs + wicket (#9, Udana, slogging); 42nd over: wicket maiden (#10, Malinga, slogging); 45th over: 6 runs.

The game was over before the 40th over, thanks to Starc, so I guess his second spell of three overs for 11 runs and a gifted wicket (from overs 29-33) was his best. That came after Maxwell helped pull back the run rate and SL fell into a bit of a hole scoring-wise.

His first spell of three overs when SL were threatening cost 23 runs.

If Finch is commending his bowling, either the captain is trying to give his struggling bowler some confidence or our bowling stocks are so bad that standards have been drastically lowered. I don't want to think about what someone like Buttler would do to that kind of bowling.

Pakistan win toss, bowl.

For Pakistan, Shadab Khan & Imad Wasim in.
For India, Shikhar Dhawan out.

Odds: India 62%, Pakistan 38%.
Line: 300.5.

It's interesting to watch another team bat first - India have been lucky - they certainly could have lost one in the second over that might have been played on - but, instead, went for 4. 0/20 from 4.2 overs.

K L Rahul has crawled to 10 from 25 balls. Sharma is 31 (24).
This is like Warner & Finch last game.

There's a reasonable chance India will make 420, here. 0/45 from 8.3.
