Yeh, even top 4 would be a friggin miracle now, but it is what it is. Just persevere and hope other sides get hit too, and other matches fall our way. Surprised

You'd think the Pies would be picking Bryn Teakle this Mid season draft given no meaningful ruck backup outside Frampton.

i would think the 'ruckman' that we draft in the MSD should play this week. Can't leave Allen and Parker both in the side

Then we would want to pick a Victorian, otherwise if he’s from interstate, he can just get dropped off at Marvel stadium, having come straight from the airport.

Im going to cop flak, but is Naicos at full forward for half a game, viable at all. Seems he can play anywhere else, aside from the Ruck. ?

No, we need to keep N Daicos in the middle to help us win the clearance battle.

Given that most of our injury problems are forward line and second ruck I think we send Sidebottom forward and Markov to come back in to the backline.
Krueger and Ash Johnson to both do Ruck / forward. Alternatively Johnson has done some backline work in the VFL and could still do some ruck work.

Howe is still listed as "pass fitness test". I don't want to take that gamble again like we did with Mihocek.

18 injuries makes it so hard.

We're currently 2 points out of the top 4. Yes we have some injury problems. However, a large number of those players will be back very soon. 6 by the time we play next week.

JDG is the big one. We'll miss him the most. But still is up to 4 weeks. This means he will be ready to go once the bye is over and we'll need to survive the Dogs, Dees and Roos without him.
Cox is Up to 6. I just find interesting is only a few weeks ago, the calls of "Drop Cox", but now he is injured the press say we're doomed. Confused The problem is his absence affects the structure of the side and adds pressure to Cameron. Will miss Dogs, Dees, Roos, Suns and Dons.
Bytel and Howe available next week if not FRIDAY. Reef, WHE, Carmichael and Eyre by next week too. Once we hit the bye, Mitchell and Checkers are ready to go. With Elliott and McStay is looking at returning not long after the bye, possibly by the time we play Essendon. Joe will return by the time we play Essendon.
Steene and Begg who are possible delistments at seasons end are out for a long time. Some were also calling a lot of these guys "VFL Players", but now are injured so we're doomed. Confused

We're really looking at that bye. I think we can still beat the Dogs who have injuries of their own (Weightman, Naughton, Richards, Coffield, Johannisen, Libber, Smith...). The Dees will be the tough one. Then we face the Roos before the bye. Once we're at Gold Coast, 9 of the 15 are back with 2 more another week off.

We can beat the Dogs. We can beat the Roos. Dees, dunno.

Collingwood v Western Bulldogs
Head-to-Head: Collingwood 111 ~ WB 49
Venue:14 Collingwood ~ 9 WB
Last 5 matches: Collingwood 3 ~ WB 2
13.11 89 2023 R17 11.11 77
7.9 51 2022 R9 14.15 99
7.11 53 2021 R1 10.9 69
13.8 86 2020 R1 5.4 34
13.4 82 2019 R14 10.13 73

The match-up equation between the two sides is a little more balanced with Aaron Naughton, Ed Richards and Tom Liberatore still on the sidelines.

Who we need to stop ~
Pendles / Crisp > Marcus Bontempelli
Lipinski > Adam Treloar
Cameron > Tim English
Johnson > Bailey Dale
Moore > Darcy
Pendles / Crisp > Jack Macrae
Kreuger / Frampton > Liam Jones
Sullivan > Caleb Daniel
IQ > Riley Garcia

Casualty ward aside, we're more than a match-up for the flaky dogs. Pies by 7

I reckon Howe comes in and frees up Frampton to a ruck/forward role

Bytel may well come in and Macrae is a chance to cover for Richards

Hopefully get past the Dogs and beat Norf.

The Dees will be a hard game, but I also reckon it depends on what Dees team shows up.

We need to get to the bye at least 2-1. I reckon that would be a sensational effort all things considering.

Hopefully Howe gets up we will need him
So I’m guessing our team will look something like

B. Maynard Moore IQ
HB. Noble Frampton Howe
C. Josh D Nick D Sidey
HF McCreery Lipinski Hill
F Schulz Krueger Harrison
R Cameron Pendles Crisp
Int. Markov Allan McRae Johnson
Emg. Bytel

We will need to be settled down back to handle there talls.
We will need extra height as back up as well as someone to pinch hit in the ruck (Krueger and Johnson)
Go with a smaller mobile and quick forward structure so our speed demons can get upfield to help the mids as required rhen turn and get back toward goal

Per Laurie's post in the injury thread, Bytel and Howe are the only players we'll have available returning from injury this week (with the caveat that Howe needs to get through training tomorrow).

That means we have:

Out: Cox, Mihocek, Richards
Possible ins from: Howe, Markov, Macrae, Bytel, Johnson, Kreuger, Ryan, Demattia, Jiath, MSD pick/s?

Based on that, I doubt we'll drop anyone, which means Allan and Parker get another run. Howe will presumably replace Mihocek up forward, and I guess Markov will replace Richards (not a like for like, but we can shuffle some players around). Otherwise we need a tall to replace Cox – I assume that'll be one of Johnson or Kreuger, and perhaps more likely Johnson because he's been a second ruck for us a fair bit in the past.

If that all comes to pass, it'd leave Macrae, Bytel and Kreuger as the emergencies, and also as the next on hand to be called up if someone else goes down or gets omitted.

The team is being tested with the injury toll but this is my guess at how we will line up for a tough game against the Doggies;
B. Maynard, Dean, Howe
HB. Noble, Moore, Quaynor
C. J.Daicos, N.Daicos, Sidebottom
HF McCreery, Lipinski, Hill
F Schultz, McInnes, Harrison
R Cameron, Pendlebury, Crisp
Int. Sullivan, Markov, Allan, Frampton
Emg. Macrae
Out: Cox, Mihocek, Richards, Parker
In: Howe, Markov, McInnes, Macrae

That's assuming Reef McInnes and Howe get through training tomorrow.
Frampton to share the ruckwork with Cameron for the next 6 weeks while Cox is out gives Charlie Dean the opportunity to secure a spot in the defensive six so Howe's experience is now needed in the defensive team to settle that part of the ground.
It's still a strong looking team if all the players continue to play at their best.
Coach Fly McRae will need to instruct the forward entries to be only to leading forwards and no long bombs to the forward line since there is no marking power left.
Go Pies!!

Lipinski at CHF is a no from me.
Better take a chance with Kreuger or Ash
Howe could figure there.
Maybe Frampton there swapping with ruck duties

McInnes if fit at FF is a no brainer
