Joel, this line basically sums up this blokes 'logic' and 'discussion' style. You are wasting your breath mate. He will simply keep blathering on with 'statements of fact', then finish up with that line, or words to that effect. As far as he's concerned, it's a one way conversation.

Pi = 3...lol.

Did you read the articles Nuxta provided on the value of Pi in this case?

Heres another one: http://www.tektonics.org/piwrong.html

Quote:
The ancients did measure pi more precisely in some cases -- but this is found in places like the Rhynd Papyrus, a book of mathematical equations. The Kings and Chronicles writers were evidently literate, but there is no evidence that they were mathematicians. We would rightly expect accuracy of greater order from specialists in mathematics like the writer of the Rhynd Papyrus, and from Babylonian astrologers. But such an expectation is ludicrous from a non-mathematician.

Quote:
Unless the Bible authors were mathematicians on the level of Archimedes (one of the other few ancients to go this far in looking at pi), then it is ridiculous to expect precision to that level from them.

Draw a circle, divide the circumference by the diameter and show me how it EQUALS three!

‘And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.’ - 1 Kings 7:23

Verse 26 says the vessel ‘was wrought like the brim of a cup'.

Bible scholars believed it to have been shaped like this:

\.............../
..............
..............
_______

Now the diameter was measured 'from brim to brim', which is across the top part. 10 cubits.

The circumference was measured 'round about' which would be measured around the base or anywhere below the brim. 30 cubits

diamteter of base = circumference / Pi
= 30 cubits / 3.14
= 9.55 cubits

So the diameter across the base was 9.55 and the circumference was 30.

you know..the bible never states that pi = 3..

all it does is give some rough measurements...a cubit was what? "the length of the arm from the point of the elbow to the end of the middle finger, which for an adult is about 18 inches (1˝ feet)" its not an exact measure..so get over it.

Its like the commentators on the footy "Hes kicking from 52 metres out"

How do they know its 52? oh wait, they are giving a guess. No doubt they are really kicking from 52.43m out..but we wont get that detailed info for a few years yet when they invent some more statistics that are needed

I believe firmly that man was created by God, and we didn't evolve from monkeys...but I also believe in the adapting to the environment aspect of Darwins Theory (I dont remember it all, it has been years since I studied science)

I believe it is possible that the universe was started with a Big Bang. The Bible never states how God created the Universe, nor does it state how long the days were..considering there was no Sun at that point in time, there was no 24hr rotation of the earth etc...

well darwins theory is pretty much evolution and survival of the fittest. if a mutant variety was more beneficial then its gonna survive etc. so when did this start then if 'god' made us? why didnt he make everything perfect then eh?

and did god only make us, or all the other animals too?

LD I answered your post which, was poorly presented and ill prepared by whoever it was that done it. As for some of my nonchalant answers they were bought on by wrong scriptures being quoted by your post and false claims being made. As for your one way conversation crud, you dont know me, you have no idea what im about. I responded to all of your post that was worthy of response and was sarcastic or dissmissive of the rubish ones. If any one was genuinely interested in unbiased disscussion without the name calling from some on that side of the argument there is nothing I would enjoy more. And as for your Pi =3 rubbish why not just admit you were wrong

The bible says that before the fall of man everything that was made was very good and it was cursed after Adam sinned

If any of you guys a genuinely serious about looking in to the creation evoloution debate have a look at http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/qa.asp

I find it quite funny that you are using websites to back up your argument. Hang on a sec, while I go start my own website telling people that I created the world, and human kind.

What it boils down to, you can't prove God exists, and others can't prove otherwise.
