Another honourable loss

Wells, Elliott, Broomhead, De Goey would add some more polish and speed to that team.

Attitude was really great. Just the errors cost us dearly.

Poise of a few really worries me. That's why we need the aforementioned in.

I agree, and what's really sad is I reckon degoey instead of Blair and we win.

Yes I really said that

Also Buckley, please please please for the love of god, next week against the sharp shooting tigers, leave someone in the defensive 50, how many times were we caught out? If they had hit targets they would have killed us!

Oh and if Cox can't mark, then sorry, he's no good to us, he's hopeless at ground level, too slow and lanky

why do I bag Blair???
Exhibit A ... tonites game.
First kick ...direct to a Dogs player.
Time and time he stuffed up.
He can get the ball but he stuffs it 50% of the time.
Eventually he will go ... it will happen when Bux finally panics about his job.
And Blair will be thrown overboard.
I thought we had a more talented side tonite.
But poor skills and execution, poor game plan and wow some great gameday tactics by Bux meant we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
I reckon we will absolutely smash bottom sides this year but we will struggle against good sides.
Still think we will easily make the eight but we will go nowhere in September.
So numb with the continual lack of vison and action.
Nuff said.

I thought we showed some really positive signs tonight.

Intensity and effort tick
Prepared to take the game on tick.
Much better defensively tick
Won the clearances and inside 50's tick

The Dogs are a good team. They love what I call the scrimmages. When the ball is live, not a stoppage (we killed them at stoppages) but when a contest spills the ball and players have to compete for it. They flick, punch, knock and literally throw it around until someone gets it and has space.

Their system is based on precision passing when they have time, and constant movement when they don't. They'll bang it in hope to a contest because if it creates a scrimmage, they back themselves to win it.

having said that, we weren't far away from winning that. Little things that didn't go our way, skill errors, umpiring decisions, a flukey kick that hits a target by accident.

There's a lot to work with. That 2nd quarter got the Adrenalin going like it hasn't done for ages.

I'm bullish still about our season. Round 1 against the reigning premiers is a hard ask, and we acquitted ourselves well IMHO

Jarryd Blair is to Nathan Buckley as to what Jason Wild was Tony Shaw.

the irony of the score board.

We win (which we could well have done) sees Bulldogs being criticised for being smashed in all the leading indicators and the likelihood of contending in 2017 questioned.

We loose and all the focus is on the over the top goals and poor defensive, and the SMASHING the Premiers on the most important stats completely overlooked.

Who do you believe is the happier coach tonight looking forward into 2017 - I guarantee its not Beverdge, because he knows they dodged a bullet tonight, and they will not contend, being outplayed in so many critical areas as they were tonight.

If anyone can argue positively for keeping Blair in the team, speak up now.

Me and Dyso pledge from last year still stands.
I will provide the car and Dyso will drive young Jarrod home to Wonthaggi.
I am sure Dyso would still be up to it!

Same old same old. Poor forward line recruiting. I wanted Josh Green, a genuine front and square annoying rodent who loves to kick goals. He'd thrive with that much ball sent to Cox and Moore. But we have ZERO front and square players. Anywhere on the ground. So sick of it. Such a beige snooze fest of a forward line.

Over the top goals occur because the coach is defensively tactically inept. Nothing has changed.

You swap Luke Beveridge with Nathan Buckley tonight and Collingwood win by 6 goals.

At the end of the day we really shouldn't be happy with honourable losses. This loss was purely based on our poor skills against a team who is famous for murdering teams mistakes.
In the 1st term Varcoe misses Cox wide open, Blair decides to handball when 20m in front Mayne Fasalo both miss very get table goals there's a 4 goal turn around
I could go on and on quarter by quarter but it's pointless really it's the same as the previous 3 seasons
We just plain have huge skill issues when we are under any sort of pressure bar Pendles.
On a few positives our skipper is just amazing really amazing
Faz did good should have bagged 5 or 6
Sidey needs to play ford he looks so dangerous there but we're down on mids so no choice really he kept us alive in the first half
Treloar did ok but still needs to clean up his disposal a bit
Schade did good
Howe can mark
Reid was very workmen like
Adams is just a bull
Phillips Smith did good
Rest were average or below
I don't want us beating ourselves any longer make a team beat us on merit
Let's hope we take some positives from th game and give the Tigers a beating next week
