would love to see Pick #2 + Moore on the trade table at season's end.
Good chance we could land either Schacke / Reid / Martin / Fyfe with that package.

Moore is useless. He could kick 10 goals a game for the next 100 games and I wont forgive him for costing us the game tonight.

PRETTY HARSH, the umps did us no favours either. Surprised

It is harsh and I've held back on him for most of the season, but I think we need to have a good look at him. I'm not sure he's got it. Harsh call but he has had an extremely poor season to date.

Goldsack was great today/night. <snip, watch your tongue, you've been instructed in the past to desist from lashing out at other posters. Be respectful towards your fellow Nicksters. Do not transgress like this again, or a card may be coming your way. - the mods>

To Mr Ilovenathanbuckley.
I know you have a good football brain and I know you have a good football experience. So I will value your opinion.
What do you think is the problem at Collingwood, and it is a problem that just seems to get bigger each year.
So don't hold back....just give a brutally honest appraisal.
And are posters like me just barking up the wrong tree?

I can't help bit think that in the context of the AFL having AFL Franchise type teams like GWS, one of the few ways, other than being both extremely lucky and extremely good at recruiting and then coaching said recruits extremely well; is to finish up well down the ladder 2-3 years in a row and try and rebuild by using the AFL "system" to one's advantage.

Because when I look at teams like GWS I can't help but feel that there has been a whole lot of AFL f***ery going on in the last few years.

i agree.
Can't wait for the new broom to sweep on through.
First time since my hippie days of the mid 1970's that I don't care for the club in it's present configuration.
Can't wait for the reset button to be pushed.

Don't be like that Cam.. another midfielder would be a perfect replacement for Darcy

No doubt. Clearly things haven't worked. Everyone has done there best though so people need to respect that.

Umpires crucified us and cost us the game. That is clear.

Blair in was always going to be a disaster.

Watching on TV, why did we not have more numbers back in the last minute? Fcking square was wide open for that old alcoholic to run into an open goal.

Persist with Moore, a bit of bulk and he will kill it.

Our handballing is abysmal. <snip, there is no need for that kind of language - the mods>

I think the crowds going forward for us will be really bad.
People keep saying we are the biggest in the land but l think we are slipping fast.

11,360 people were in attendance tonight.

Geez, AFL, it was really worth distorting the competition for that, wasn't it?

What the AFL has done verges on a form of treason against already established clubs with morally hazardous behavior and intent.

Great effort today. It just shows you can't win games without a good spine and we are lacking badly here.
The recruiting staff have a lot to answer for here and need to be made accountable.
Simply an A grade midfield is not enough.
Then our other major problem is our skill level. The coaching staff need to work on this. Start by recruiting players with skills for AFL level. If they can't get the basics right send them to the VFL.
If the year turns out where we simply are not good enough then play the kids that haven't had much game time plus the new recruits.
The team must come first

First...we have a very good midfield and a crap forwardline and backline.
Second...The skill level of a number of players is below standard.
In a very competitive system the flaws of a weak back and forward line coupled with poor skills will kill you.
And you cannot realistically expect the midfield to carry you through to the finals.

i'm really not sure about this. That GWS game ultimately turned on a long period in the second quarter when their midfield and clearances and CPs smashed ours. If our midfield was as stellar as it looks on paper that should not happen. Our biggest problem, though, is up forward. Letting Cloke go with no replacment was clearly a howling error.

Should have got a replacement, granted, but Cloke was horrible for the dogs, let's not sugar coat that, he is well past it.

If you really want to see how past it Clokey is, watch the Freo v Dogs game from earlier this year in Perth. I can't see him getting another game for the Dogs.

Anyone who steps out onto the arena has my respect.
They are soldiers in a different uniform.
They are a better man than me.
But the game is brutal both physically and mentally.
It boils down to one thing ....winning.
And every year just one team gets to the top of the dunn hill to crow loud and clear who are the best.
Yes I respect every player but I want only one thing.
And that is a flag.
