Australians make hay in the sunshine
Wisden Cricinfo staff - June 17, 2003

Australia's Brad Hodge and Andrew Symonds came close to becoming the first Twenty20 centurians, but both had to be content with guiding their sides to victory.

Hodge cracked 97 off 61 balls and Paul Nixon chipped in with four sixes in a 26-ball 43 as Leicestershire scored 174 for 6, a total which was too good for Yorkshire despite a spirited 71 from 34 balls by Yuvraj Singh.Scorecard

Symonds smashed three sixes and 14 fours on his way to a 37-ball 96 not out as Kent overwhelmed Hampshire at Beckenham, racing to a six-wicket win with a remarkable eight overs to spare. Scorecard

Another Australian, Mike Hussey, made 79 not out off 58 balls to steer Northamptonshire to a 23-run win over Glamorgan. Chasing 160 to win, only Robert Croft (53) offered any significant resistance as Glamorgan were always off the pace. Scorecard

Harvey and Spearman blitz Gloucs to 10-wicket win
Freddie Auld - June 21, 2003

Ian Harvey and Craig Spearman smashed the biggest partnership in the Twenty20 Cup so far as Gloucestershire completely demolished their West Country rivals Somerset at Taunton. The overseas pair treated the crowd to some Antipodean anarchy with a flurry of boundaries: 16 fours and five sixes – and two lost balls. Spearman played the anchor role with a mere 43 from 28 balls, while Harvey thrashed an astonishing 75 from 34. While Gloucestershire's Martyn Ball finished with the miserly figures of 1 for 11 from his 4 overs, all the Somerset bowlers were despatched with embarrassing ease with Wesley Durston going for 24 off his one over. It was the first ten-wicket victory in the competition and by far the easiest, and it now sets up a top-of-the-table clash between Gloucestershire and Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Monday.

Andy Symonds cracked 103 n.o. from 81 balls for Kent.

I know he's not an Aussie but Sami has taken 10 Notts wickets from the 12 to fall.

Michael Di Venuto hit 148 for Derby and, in the same game, Ian Harvey took 3/18 and 3/45 and hit 27 for Gloucester.

Kaspa took 4/53 and Jimmy Maher hit 21 and 62 for Glamorgan

Mike Hussey scored 43 & 72 for Northants.

Just a mention about Sami. He went on to take 15/114 for Kent - the best match figures for the season, so far.
