Post subject: The Rules and the mysterious blue buttonReply with quote

We would have preferred not announce this on such a sad day for the Club, but many of you are wondering about the new blue button. To avoid an influx of people 'just testing it out', here's an explanation.

Nick's Bulletin Board has always been popular with Collingwood fans and is continually growing as it attracts large numbers of new members.

With only a few minor exceptions, we welcome our newfound friends with open arms and in the true spirit of Magpie camaraderie. You have added depth and breadth to our community, and we are taking a few minor steps to preserve the ambience that has made Nick's the longest running AFL fan site on the 'Net.

Firstly, you will notice a new menu item at the top of each page called 'The Rules'. We have made them as straightforward and as easy to follow as possible. Read them once, and then most of you will never need to refer to them again.

Our team of 18 volunteer Moderators, all of whom donate their time freely, are not always available to review every post the moment it appears. If you find a post to be personally offensive or, for some other reason, believe that it should not remain unedited on the Bulletin Board, please use the new blue button in the top right corner of that post to report it to the Mods. (Note: While the blue button now appears in every post, please ensure you use the one in the 'offending' post to report it to the Mods)

That post will then be reviewed and, if necessary, edited or removed. If the matter is not urgent, please allow time (at least a couple of hours) for normal moderation to take place before reporting a post.

Of course, a larger community means a wider selection of views and attitudes. To cope with the occasional member that strays from the Rules, we have introduced another separate enhancement to the Board to help the Moderation team cope with serious transgressions of those Rules.

Suffice it to say the enhancement allows such matters to be tracked and all parties automatically notified by email of any outcomes. Again, most of you will never have cause for concern, so there is no need to detail the system here.

Read the Rules now and then return to enjoying Nick's as you always have. Most of you will never need to worry about them again.

Floreat Pica and vale Bobby Rose. A gentleman who always played by the rules.
