Just as I was reading the title of this thread, someone on TV said 'World Aids day.' It was a bit weird to hear the words I was reading in my head out loud at the same time.
Back onto the real topic.. I can't believe that if there is a cure to a disease affecting so many people that governments won't help to make it happen and are letting these people just eventually die.
It seems like just because it is a disease that can be prevented by certain choises of lifestyle they must seem to think it is their own fault and have bought it upon themselves which is not true in all cases. It's a real shame. _________________ There is just one team we favour... |

It is true to a degree, bec. In Africa, it's just lack of hygiene etcetera, and as far as I'm aware, if you get aids in africa your just unlucky. In countries like USA and here it's just gays and maybe people who have unprotected sex with lots of people who get aids isn't it? _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

I find that difficult to believe Tess. I think poverty more likely the problem.
And yes in the US and here gays are the majority of AIDS sufferers, that is why it is such a dangerous lifestyle. 85% of people who contracted AIDS between 1999 and 2003 in Australia had a history of homosexual behaviour. |

Poverty would be a contributing factor yes, but I actually don't find it that hard to believe what Tess is saying because Catholic's are meant to be against using any form of contraception. This is why many old Catholic families had a lot of children. _________________ There is just one team we favour... |

hey on a similar topic, i read yesterday that Dannii Minogue is posing nude for Aids or something...... now that's an astute decision considering AIDS is largely a sexually transmitted disease..... well, anyway just wondering what the idea was, cos it beats me _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the problem is not homosexuality, it is promiscuous homosexuality. I'm not sure if the mardi gras is a very good example of normal gay people, if it is then thats a little bit worrying.... _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

At my school, kids were handing out tatoos and stickers and postcards promoting it. _________________ Sam

Would be a lifestyle for a lot of them with all those rave parties wouldn't it? |
