Suspect that we will see Lynch as that relief ruck in round one. Jolly like to play a lot of minutes and grind em out, so it makes sense to have a forward who can give a five minute chop out rather than a second specialist. It also makes sense to have Lynch train pretty much entirely with the forwards in the pre-season, there is a LOT for him to get used to in terms of the running patterns they want, developing rapport with Cloke and the crumbers, learning the delivery he can expect from the different mids and half forwards, etc. With the ruck stuff he is expected to get in there and be competitive and be a physical presence to support his midfielders, he is probably NOT expected to win too many taps against genuine rucks and no amount of training is going to alter that for a bloke is 192-193 cm tall.

collingwoodjoe you make a lot of sense in that we may be looking at a 5 min chop out for Jolls with Big Q taking that ruck duty. But you would also think that Lynch do some match ruck simulation with the mids and their movement patters around the ruck. On the other hand these match simulations could also be done in a gym behind closed doors!

And not a trace of performance enhancing anything on the track with the exception of good, old-fashioned Collingwood grunt.

Our neighbours to our north-west could do well to emulate our dedication on the track.
