I saw his disposal last night, and it was pretty poor.

Inside 50, and kicking out on the full?

Did the pies buy into this "hawks left footers are exceptional" when picking him up?
Did they actually watch his highlights? or someone else in the dawks kicking?

kicking out from fullback as well...

no wonder bucks wanted to get fasolo into the backline to do the kickins from the behinds, but he wasnt any better on the night.

P.S I miss Leon Sad

That's the second time he's kicked a set shot from 45-50m out on the full in 3 games. He did it against Freo too.
He certainly looks like a good kick, but looks can be deceiving. He needs to lift, so hopefully he will.

I used to be undecided, but now I'm not so sure.

Wasn't a fan of picking up either Young or Lynch in free agency to be honest.
However Young would still give good value in a Hawks team because they have a game plan that frees up their ball users. We don't know how to best utilise him.

Soft. Kind of epitomises our recruiting from other clubs over the past 50 years.

Bit early yet to cast aspertions on him, I actually thought he did a few nice things, hes a good kick, but needs to straighten up a bit. The jury is out on him, see how he goes v the tigers and north.

in 1 quarter, a bomb into our 50, and he didnt go for the mark, and let geelong mark the ball.

Is he the new Ryan Lonie?

Lonie's attack on the man and ball wouldn't remind anyone of Gavin Brown, but fair dinkum he was just about the best kick I've ever seen.

Young is an awful decision maker, and while he can kick it a mile, he has no idea where it's going half the time.

I miss Leon too and Collingwood missed him even more. The fact that Leon did not play on for at least one more season (in the form he was in he could have played two or three more seasons ), cost us the title in 2011 against the cats. You will never truly know but he could have been the difference.

He did play in 2011 and wasn't the difference. Having said that, I believe his type is what we are missing most.

On Young: Don't think he is a great kick, nor a great player but he is certainly in our best team, ATM. Hopefully next year we will have a young'un go past him.

Leon Davis did play in 2011-probably his best Grand Final for us.
As for the recruiting over the past 50 years from other clubs

Nathan Buckley
Anthony Rocca
Paul Licuria
Shane Morwood
Doug Barwick
David Cloke
Geoff Raines
Graham Teasdale
George Bissett
Craig Davis
Gary Pert

just to name a few.Seems a few decent players in that lot, even if some broke down or didn't perform. All were highly sort after.

Compared to his other GF efforts that's not a huge rap.

Well, at least he didn't get dropped for the following week....

On topic, I thought Young was quite good. He'll get better. Anyway, we got him for nothing so its a simple case of "it was worth a try" whatever the result.

I'm more worried about Beams than Young at the moment.
