1SF, 2009, Collingwood 12.11.83 d Adelaide 11.12.78 at the MCG

Points of interest.

Adelaide and Collingwood meet for the 37th time but it's the Magpies who have dominated, winning 25 games to 11. The Crows have lost eight of the last nine.

The Pies are ranked equal fourth in 2014 for marks inside 50, averaging just under 14 a game. Travis Cloke is equal eighth for the stat so far (19 marks inside 50), after being the number one player in 2013.

The Crows have struggled on the inside of the contest this year and are ranked 16th for contested possessions, averaging 134 a game. That's compared to the League's best, Gold Coast, which is averaging 157 a game.

This contest may well break the Adelaide attendance record between these sides, which currently sits at 48,522 from round 22, 1993 at AAMI Stadium.

Tackling continues to trouble the Crows; they're ranked 16th for tackles, averaging 62 a game, while Collingwood is third with 73 a game.

Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury and Adelaide's acting co-captain Patrick Dangerfield are in the middle of a battle for second spot in the Official AFL Player Ratings. Dangerfield holds second by just 15 points.

Let's hear ya !!

Interesting to note from the 'points of interest' how close the top teams and the bottom teams are for tackles and contested footy.

Feeling a little nervous about this match even though form suggests that we should win this one comfortably tonight.

I'm happy with the returns of Maxwell, Toovey and Young who have all played good football so far this season. As long as Maxy is able to play the loose man role off half-back he'll play well again. Toovey's been in tremendous form which is amazing considering he underwent a knee reconstruction only twelve months ago and Clinton Young is getting better with each game he plays with us.

I'm not too fussed about the exclusions of Taylor Adams and Ben Kennedy as it allows for greater competition and harder work to obtain a spot in the best 22, but I'm a little disappointed for Josh Thomas who's been good this season and very unlucky to be omitted for this match in my opinion.

While Jack Frost hasn't put a foot wrong this season so far I'm a little bit worried that him matching up on Tex Walker might trouble him a little bit, but hopefully Frosty can do the job again. Walker is only coming back from his knee injury after over 12 months without AFL football. I'm weary of what he can produce but hopefully we can contain him early on along with James Podsiadly and Eddie Betts who Marley Williams will probably have the job on due to him having the leg speed to match him for the whole game.

Overall, I feel like after a dismal performance against the Demons the Crows will have a red-hot crack tonight so we need to be prepared for this one and not get complacent whatsoever. The form from our boys has been great so far this season barring round 1 so there's a lot to like from us so far this season. If form is the main indicator of who will win tonight we should win this comfortably.

We also have a great interstate record in Adelaide however we've never played at the Adelaide Oval so it'll be interesting to see how we adapt to the ground tonight.

Anyway looking forward to this one even though it's odd that there's a game of football in a typically normal week on Thursday night.

I should also say that Macaffer will be crucial tonight. If he can tag Dangerfield out of the match then the Crows midfield will struggle big time! He's a game breaker for them when he's in form.

If the Caff is able to stop him he'll be one of the best players of the night even if he only has 10 disposals tonight for example.

It'll be interesting to see how Macaffer goes if he lines up on there best midfielder in Dangerfield.

Dangerfield with his speed would test any tagger.

First up after a bye, exposed form is all 2 weeks old, I'm nervous.

All things working to plan we should win by 35 min. That's an IF

I reckon it'll be interesting to see who goes to Dangerfield when he goes forward - Williams is the obvious choice but McCaffer may just run with him throught.

Go PIES!!
