Aurora Stadium is set to host the opening of the 2015 NAB Challenge later this month, when Hawthorn battle Collingwood at the venue. This will be the first time the Pies have played at the venue, and the first time they’ve played in the state since March 2001.
During that trip Collingwood suffered an 18-point defeat at the hands of Melbourne during a rain-drenched pre-season clash at North Hobart Oval.
The game will likely see a sell-out crowd enjoy the opening game of the NAB Challenge, but will also see many disappointed fans turned away as the venue has limited spots available. The Tasmanian Government needs to re-open the possibility of a multipurpose stadium that will cater for the big crowds in the state.

If Tasmania want to see big games like this again down here, there is a massive need for a stadium to cater for it. Building it in Campbell Town will see both the South and North happy. _________________ Ðavâgé

Anyone see the episode of Utopia where they proposed a massive stadium for Tasmania until they worked out they would never fill it. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

It would depend on the size of the stadium, and where they put it, I think at most there should be a 50k seat stadium down here. Which the population growth over the last decade they'd fill it with ease. Upwards of 30k had signed on to become members of the first Tasmanian AFL side, which they did a pre-membership drive.
Both Hawthorn and North Melbourne has decent membership numbers down here, so there's no way they couldn't fill a 50k stadium. Tasmania would do that with ease since there's something like 550k people now in Tasmania as of 2010. _________________ Ðavâgé
