Date: Sunday March 15 2015
Stadium: Queen Elizabeth Oval, Bendigo
Start: 4:40pm (AEDT)

So our next practice match takes place against Carlton next Sunday afternoon in Bendigo.

I think the coaching staff will make a few changes here with Pendles, Swan and Cloke the most notable inclusions into the side. We played with a lot of intensity against the Hawks and the aim is to try and maintain this.

I'll be interested to see how Cloke performs with a more reliable forward set up alongside Karnezis and Fasolo assuming he's included in the side because our forward line structure last year was abysmal. After a great pre-season of training I hope Swanny can perform to the standards we've expected of him for a number of years after a lean year last year.

Looking forward to seeing how the young kids go again with many curious to see how the likes of Freeman, De Goey and Broomhead perform and seeing the likes of Greenwood, Varcoe and Crisp going around again.

I'm sure there will be a few players rested and managed but the main objective is that we sustain no injuries and demonstrate that a good game plan is building under Bucks, and it will be a bonus if we can beat the arch-enemy.

Yep. Our blokes must be desperate for a well-earned rest this week after the long season so far. Smile

Mind you, Carlton .... isn't that the bye week?

if it's the only time we lose to them this season I suppose it'd be ok I want total domination!

Seriously though, I'd like to see more of the same. Quick ball movement and fierce pressure on their ball carrier. Would love to see Ben Reid and the new draft / rookie picks (who haven't made an appearance yet) get a hit out.

Happy to leave Pendles, Swan and Cloke out again until the last game when we're much closer to round 1. Those guys should hardly miss a beat.

As per usual in preseason games I'm sure we're all barracking for no injuries. Given that would like to see my man Witts get a game if he is fit enough.

I'm happy for Witts to take a little longer. It's a long season and it will do Grundy good to ruck alone for a few more matches. Plus that means more game time for Stui's man Gault which can only be a good thing. If White it injured as per rumour, then I guess Cloke comes in and the rest of the side stays as-is bar a couple of smalls coming out to make room for Swan and/or Pendles. I don't mind if those two stay out either though, coz they are experienced enough to hit the ground running later on and we want to see players like Freeman and de Goyougoodthing find their feet, and players like Broomhead and Frost get back up to speed.

With only two more practice matches I'm hoping we play 3/4 of our team in both. I'm going to this next one and I'd like to to a serious Swanny tear it up. I'm hoping to see our best forwards out there including Cloke, Elliott, Faz, Karnezis and Goldy. Would also be nice to see Reid but I've got a feeling a lot of our talls won't be there - Reid, Witts, White and Keefe. So that will mean Gault will have to play again.

I might check out the VFL game too unless we use it as a trial for VFL rookies.

Potentially need to bring a few seniors in this week. Cloke, Swan, Pendles, Reid, Blair, Witts, Keeffe and hopefully soon Seedsman need game time. We may rest a few seniors but I would think a few from last week will make way although hopefully not De Goey.

I've been doing some pre-season work myself this last few days. I saw the taped replay of the 2013 Collingwood vc Scumbag match where it was Buck's first game v Mick. Over 86,000 people.

Lot to like:

* Elliott's 5 big ones.
* With Jolly going down Lynch's best game for the pies
* Great games by Dwyer & Blair
* We got more of the frees

As with the game against the Hawks, no injuries, some of the kids continuing to show their wares, and the introduction of a couple more senior players. A win would just be a bonus.
