Interesting piece on News.com

http://www.news.com.au/sport/breaking-news/scott-pendlebury-spending-more-time-forward-for-collingwood-could-be-what-again-elevates-his-game/story-fnect155-1227343099439

What could our forward line setup look like if it happens?

Funny timing. I was only saying to a mate last week that when Pendles loses a bit of pace in a few years I could see him doing a 1990 Brownie.

At a guess...

HF: Elliott, Cloke, Sidebottom
F: Pendlebury, White, Witts

Problem is, the midfield needs him more than the forward line does.

While he is in his prime, Pendles needs to stay in the middle. Once Adams/De Goey/Freeman/Broomhead/Kennedy etc all reach that 50-60 game mark, he can play more as a forward ala Buckley 06-07 (minus the gammy hammys of course).

when the reduced rotations come in we'll see more of pendles in the forward line.

this is no good for fantasy football.

Damn it, I knew as soon as I penned that comment that someone would append something like that. I knew? Or should that be "apprehended"? Sorry, I mean apprepended.

It's a disgrace that we have the best contested mark in the AFL as our full forward, yet we have one of the worst forward lines! Seriously, we need to start planning for life without Cloke asap. Given the amount of ball he receives from us and the amount of shots he has each week, he should be kicking around 70-80 goals a year. If he was doing that, we wouldn't be clutching at straws hoping Pendles can make our forward line function better.

He's a natural footballer, he'd do well anywhere minus KP or Ruck.

Considering his height he's not a great overhead mark. I remember a few years back he had it on his list of things to improve. He's also not a great set shot for goal, much better on the run or at a distance (sound familiar?)

However, his talent for finding space makes him a very dangerous proposition up forward. Of his total game time if he spends 80% on ball and 20% up forward he'll kick 30 goals this year.
