Post subject: Ben Kennedy and Tim Broomhead rd 10? | |

Do you think it's appropriate to give both Tim (41 possessions) and Ben (38 possessions) a recall after impressive performances in the reserves last week?
I think it is important to "reward form" and keep the seniors on their toes. I guess the dilemma is who to drop after a meritorious win. Whoever that may be if such inclusions do occur may come from the following:
1. Adam Oxley: slight injury concern, little and up and down with form
2. Jarrod Witts: team balance with a wet weekend forecasted
3. Paul Seedsman: not kicked on since Anzac Day and better suited on a wing than half back.
4. J. De Goey: sub vested last week makes him the most likely exclusion
5. Scott Pendlebury: don't be surprised if he is rested. He can't seem to move with any fluency against the Tigers/Roos albeit he stood out against the Gold Coast. Given Bucks' admission in his presser the other day, it may be a precursor to a "rest".
Again the above is merely musings and welcome your thoughts. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

part of me wants to contend that the performances were against a side that has not been travelling so well but even allowing for that players still have to get out there and perform. i would need to watch the game to have an idea about the quality of broomy and kenno's respective performances.
i would suggest minimal changes for this week. oxley out and bring in one of the two aforementioned or it might be a good time to give marsh a go. pendles can get through this game playing as a permanent forward unless things go pear-shaped. he'll get two weeks off soon enough.
witta and seedo need to stay. seedo will benefit from having sinkers or ramma back. i'd give jdg a full game in the next couple of weeks to see how he goes against opponents that are essentially the same age as him. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

I wouldn't mind seeing Broomhead come in for Oxley , this lad has some serious ability. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

Kennedy has been dominating in the VFL for several weeks and deserves to be rewarded with a recall. Oxley seems the most likely one to make way for him.
I thought De Goey's clearance work was crucial to our win last week, so I'm hoping he retains his spot. For the longer term development of our team it's probably important to keep playing Witts and Grundy, so I can't see either of those being dropped. I'd be hesitant to drop anyone else at this stage, so Broomhead may have to play great football in the VFL for another week or two before regaining his spot. |

Agree that good VFL form should be rewarded but equally there needs to be a vacancy for them. While a couple of guys may in fact not be in the best form, the selectors will need to decide how best to manage that. I'm not convinced that dropping any of the players listed is the best way to go. |

I agree that Kennedy should come in.
BenKen was BOG by some distance - and has been exceptionally good for weeks. He's got the potential to improve our midfield dramatically and should be given his chance. That said, I want to see him play in the midfield, on the ball when Swanny isn't in the centre.
Despite Broomhead's very impressive disposal numbers at the weekend, I was concerned at the game that he seemed to be the one Coburg targeted as their route out of the centre when they got their hands on the ball first, apparently because they thought he wasn't strong enough to stop them. That seemed to be correct. He's a great ball user and I have high hopes that he will play a lot of senior footy but he still doesn't seem physically developed enough, yet. Consequently, he's classy with the ball but a bit ineffective without, imo. |

Not convinced B Ks form has been any better than Marsh to date ( relative to their positions )
So if Oxley is the one to go, I would have thought that Marsh is the like for like.
Also agree with Rudeboy about JDG. He was anything but a passenger when the North game was up for grabs. I would like to see him stay in against the Dees.
F W I W, I haven't been that happy with Langdons game in the last two weeks. Im not suggesting he should be spelled ( yet ) but he strikes me as another player who might be carrying something that is impacting his best footy.
All makes for an interesting team selection. |

agree with the Langdon call. He can have bouts of "vagueness" with ball in hand or decision making. Similar to Taylor Adams as well. I guess we have a rare time of "available depth" and like 2010 there are heavy competition for spots.
Who would have thought Bucks would be an addition to the injury list!!! _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |
