This guy did exactly that.
"A bullied loner" aparently (sounds familiar), fell out with his parents and moved in with his grandparents, where he dropped out of high school and spent most of his time alone playing video games, but no diagnosis or history of mental illness that would have raised alarms at a background check. Bought two AR15's on his 18th Birthday, plus ammo, and stashed them at home so his grandparents didn't know.
Telegraphed on social media that he was going to shoot his grandmother (and did) apparently cos she got into him about dropping out of school.
Then took her car, telegraphed on social media that he was going to shoot up his school, and did.
background checks, licensing and waiting periods wouldn't have stopped this. Restricting availability of semi automatic rifles might have, but he could have done just as much damage with a couple of old 30-30 lever actions or even a bolt action with a decent magazine capacity. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

So banning guns as such won’t work unless they search each vehicle coming into the States. Therefore a complete solution is nigh on impossible. |
Thought I'd circle back to this.
According to this article, the Gun trade is one way, from the US to Mexico.
https://edition.cnn.com/2021/11/26/world/us-gun-culture-world-comparison-intl-cmd/index.html
Mexico apparently only has one gun shop in the entire country and it's run by the army.
Quote: | About 200,000 firearms from America cross Mexico's border every year, according to a February 2021 US government accountability office report, citing the Mexican government.
In 2019, about 68% of firearms seized by law enforcement in Mexico and sent to the ATF for identification were traced back to the US |
I wrote earlier about how crossing from Mexico to the USA was literally going through customs. On the flipside, walking over the border from El Paso to Juarez there were zero controls. Nada. Ninguno. Zilch. |
Thanks for the correction. However in either direction, unless they scrupulously check every single vehicle, it is inevitable that a few would be able to be smuggled each day. So over a period of time this would add up to be a significant amount of guns. Don’t know what the answer is 🙄 _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. What's not clear is how he got the money. His AR-15, new, costs north of $2,000, plus several hundred for the sight. Social misfit with no job don't have a lazy $4k for two rifles. |

However he got it, he got it and wasn't known to Police in the process. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Who knows how he afforded it, but the next guy like him will probably just grab it from their parents' house or a friend. They're not exactly hard to come by over there. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Massively so. Interesting what's coming out about the Fed's prior knowledge of this and the Buffalo shooter. Couple with strange behaviour of police, questions about how the suspect afforded the guns and things start not adding up.
There is potentially something more sinister lurking around. |

The only thing "more sinister lurking around" this thread is your promulgation of baseless, indefensible conspiracy theories. Take them to 4chan. |

Yeah, sometimes the reality – incompetence, poor allocation of police resources and most importantly a country that's totally lost control of guns and people's access to them – is just too hard to face for some people. And the sickest joke in all this is that these Alex Jones–style conspiracy theories end up being the last line of defence for champions of gun rights: maybe the whole thing was staged by politicians trying to take your guns away. There are plenty of Republican voters who still believe just that about Sandy Hook, so it's a natural conclusion here, too. Anything other than to accept that the policies you support led to the murder of children.
At what point do you flush the entire country, constitution and all, down the toilet and start again from scratch? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

yeah, that's going to happen.
The only thing for sure is that nothing is going to happen until a clear majority of the people want it to, and they aren't even close yet. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Call it what you like. 40 police stay outside and tackle and handcuff parents prevent them from going inside. 40 police who refused to storm the school.
The reason given for not storming the school….needing to find a key.
None of this adds up. Conspiracy, negligence, incompetence.,..whatever, there is more to this shooting than just a random kid going evil. |

Nah there's not.
The Police response was a Phuk up, the inconsistent versions is butt covering, everything else is what it is. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
