I assume that we will get a Blackmore's injury update from Balmy soon, but at this stage I think the following are probably unavailable for NAB1:

Scharenberg
Howe
Goldsack
Treloar (confirmed in intra-club interview)
Elliott (unlikely)
Keeffe*
Thomas*

Have I missed anyone?

I suspect that we will also manage/rest quite a few of our older players and more certain starters in NAB 1 so we should get to see a fair bit of the young guns.

You can add Crisp, Crocker, Wills and Sier to the list of outs. Doubt that all three rucks will play, with my guess being that Grundy will be rotated out of the first game. Also think Wyatt won't get a game as there are too many players ahead of him. Would also surprise if Broomhead and Sinclair play all three NAB games because of their injury history.

What's up with Crisp? He missed the intra-club because of training load management (according to his interview).

Hoping to get to training on Wednesday. Will let you know if he's back training with the main group.

Going down without any major expectations other than seeing a few of the younger players in action.
Result almost totally irrelevant at this early stage. The home ground advantage is huge for them.
More about watching how some kids are travelling towards reaching their potential. Exciting to see how it all pans out but very early days yet.

Just an hour down the road mate. The fish n chips used to be good in the late 70's not far from Kardinia Park I seem to recall.

AFL.com said we had a relatively young squad picked BUT if you look at the outs - we just don't have a lot of old guys! Only Cloke, Pendles, Reid and Goldsack would be considered experienced IMO. But whatever, there are 6 or 7 blokes not playing who are walk up starts in the regular season, so maybe it's a nice way of saying it's not the best 22 (or 29 as it were)!

I'll be interested to see the midfield battles - apart from Treloar and Pendles our midfield is basically full strength so if we can match Geelong's midfield I'd be happy (no Selwoods for the cats either).

Rumours Sier has a serious foot injury. I saw him walking down stairs in the Glasshouse last week. No limp.

So little information has been available about Williams this pre-season. If he wasn't injured, I would've expected that he would be in this squad for a bit of a hit out. Perhaps for the next NAB game? If he doesn't appear then, I'm going to start to worry! Sad

Bad sign for Goodyear that he can't get a game over Phillips or Smith. Most of the other players listed here are recovering from injuries.
