Having just quaffed down two jack daniels and coke, I now feel in a relaxed Friday night frame of mind, and I sincerely hope you are correct in your prediction Johnny, victory is ours my friend. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

I reckon we'll win and win well, but not for a good reason. We're a front running team at the moment, when there isn't much pressure we look like world beaters - and I don't expect much pressure from Carlton.
We might struggle against Brisbane and Port and we did against ST Kilda and Melbourne all because they brought pressure we couldn't handball our way out of. I doubt we'll see that this week though and I expect a more ANZAC day like result where we just keep pushing the ball forwards and goals keep coming because the opposition just make mistakes at the wrong time and don't force us to make mistakes at all.
Pies by 68 drifting.

Apologies sire, it's like being at a 6 year old's birthday party in here at the moment. Ever tried having a discussion with a 6 year old hyped on red cordial, lollies and fairy bread?
Anyway, to tomorrows game.
This is a danger game IMHO. The Bloos are growing under Bolton and they have a fairly settled side who're all out to impress the new coach. FFS, Murphy and Gibbs seem to have got an infusion of courage somewhere (Dank?) If our midfield doesn't work at them and force them to revert to type they could do damage.
Of the two teams, we actually have a lower age and games played profile than they do, despite them being the rebuilding team.
I expect (hope) us to win but it's by no means a lay down misere. |
My comment wasn't directed at you, Stui. As it happens, you posted more or less the same comment just before I did. Anyway, carry on.... |

Great call bud. Youth and inexperience on most of our lines. Dale Thomas on a flank for the scum.

Jon Ralph on Fox Footy running with "a whisper" that Cloke will come in if there's a late change tomorrow.

No matter what you think of Buckley I think we can safely say that selection is not being made with saving his career in mind (though I did see one poster make this argument, I don't think it was serious). The fact that we have a number of injuries and are still not playing players of the ilk of Brown and Cloke shows we are looking to the future more than the present. That's not to say these two won't be part of the future but that tough decisions have been made in order for us to be playing the right way. Yet another debutant does mean that we are at risk against Carlton, but it's good to see the club is willing to take these chances with a greater goal in mind.
Have to say that our selection does seem a little erratic though. White in for one game, first in defence, no good out: back in a couple of weeks later. We either believe in him as a defender or we don't, yanking him after just one game seemed a bit of a panicked move.
I do hope that this dropping of senior players and continually picking debutants is all on form and that the playing group are on board with it. If it's more down to deteriorating relationships or simply frustration then it could be a concern, we've seen issues with this over Buckley's coaching career. _________________ Well done boys! |
