Maybe. They were very lucky with a few of their wins this year, their record is very flattering. I mainly picked them for their uninspiring form and low percentage. If we beat the Dogs we will be a definite chance for the eight, with a number of teams under pressure. I'd particularly mention the Dogs, Hawks and Crows though I think Hawthorn have been the worst performed team in the 8 this year.

Hawthorn were crap at the same point last year. To say we are a better chance at making the 8 than them is ludicrous. Particularly after we screwed our easy part of the draw up.

Post subject: NO 50 METRE PENALTIES TOMORROW PLEASEReply with quote

Hope we do not receive contrived 50 metre penalties against us like the recent Carlton game. Remember Carlton received five 50 metre penalties to our one, which cost us the game. Strange that there have been none in the last two big wins! GO pies!!

So....
Tomorrow we can show up and announce to the afl that we are on the way!!!
We back up the last 2 weeks against a very good team coming off of a loss..
We do it with toughness, guile, running until we vomit on them and tackling that breaks their spirit.
We do with a great spread of goal kickers but with new besties Mason n Darcy kicking a lazy 4 each..
We do it for all of us and themselves but mostly for me to round off a glorious Birthday weekend...
We do it for the ages!!!
Carn you Mighty, mighty magpies!!!

When I watch, or listen, to games that don't involve the Pies I often find myself sort of barracking for the underdog, the unexpected, the fairy-tale.

I've noticed the same tendency in the commentators, I think it may be human nature. I also think that umpires experience the same thing.

Being the most polarizing of clubs, I think we suffer from that human tendency. For many we're the bad guys. We get some benefit from that, but we also pay a price.

Subtle umpiring prejudice, I fear, is part of that.
