Was immaculate last Sunday, save for a patch in a forward pocket that was a bit spongey. Possible faulty sprinkler.
Look out for a dead pocket if the whole ground is wet.
(Would be right of screen, near side, if on TV.) |
The centre square didn't look too good on the TV, either. Umpire had to toss the ball up.
That pocket would be the old practice cricket pitch area. Not sure if they still use it for that purpose these days (they've got brand new practice nets up on the hill at the Williamstown Road end). But it does become a bit of a "dead pocket" when the rain sets in. _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

I will be catching a train from Ballarat and then a tram from Southern Cross, so most likely be there early, do you know a good spot to meet? I have never been to this ground before so I don't know what is there! My Train arrives at Southern Cross about 11:45AM or I can catch a later one which arrives about 1PM. Not sure which one to catch yet! _________________ Cheers big ears |

Judging by reports and the crowd Sunday I'd suggest the earlier train, get into the ground as it took till nearly 1/4 time to clear the queue. Then head off for a pre-game drink on a pass-out.
Still haven't made up my mind if I'll go or not. Heart says yes, head says no... |

If he is going, he is going with a headcase in me so he should take your great advice and listen to his heart... _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

19 degrees and pretty dry weather until about 5pm predicted.
After a forecast dry day tomorrow, should be pretty ideal.
Albion and Cricketers Arms (famed for its steaks) pubs are both pretty close by (~500m), either side of the Light Rail. _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |

I get the impression from this that AFL Victoria will be opening up the disused ticket gate on Williamstown Road, which will make for three entrances to get in though, instead of the usual two...

Good. Will at least help with congestion and getting people into the ground. Now all people have to do is not show up en masse 20 minutes before the first bounce.
No EFTPOS either, so bring notes and change... _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

Seeing that the game starts at 2:40pm, if I got there before 1:30pm that would be early enough? _________________ Cheers big ears |

Should be. I always rock up an hour early and get a decent parking space and a seat in the Norm Goss without too much hassle... _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |
