Comes out next week.
If the season structure follows the pattern of the recent past, our first game will probably fall on the first Saturday/Sunday of April (the weekend of AFL Round 3).
We've got 8 Sunday AFL games, plus ANZAC Day and Queen's Birthday, so that's (at least) half of our games where the club will either have to play an emergency on limited minutes or hold one (or two) out altogether. Which, when combined with byes, must make for some tricky and annoying player management logistics.
I hope we play more games at Victoria Park this year, but am quietly resigned to the majority going to Olympic Park again.
Based on the pattern of recent fixtures, you can probably pencil in the following:
- ANZAC weekend clash vs Essendon (most likely Sunday 23rd)
- Queen's Birthday weekend clash vs Casey at Casey Fields
- Mid-season bye for both teams on the weekend of June 16th-18th
- Bye for state league representative footy in mid to late May. _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

Quote: | The league will now finalise the 2017 VFL fixture after recent club feedback, with the aim to have it released publically next week.
The 2017 Peter Jackson VFL season will begin on the weekend of April 15/16. |

So, the weekend of AFL Round 4, where we play St Kilda on the Sunday at Docklands.
Assuming AFL Victorira still want to be able to get exposure by playing week 1 of the VFL finals during the AFL's pre-finals bye weekend, an April 15/16 opening round would make for an 18 game season over 20 weeks, with two byes instead of three. _________________ I am vengeance. We've got our first leak, courtesy of Paul Amy: a road trip against next year's nomads in Werribee...

The seniors are playing that same day up at GWS (in fact, the first bounce will come pretty much as the final siren is sounding in the VFL), so any locals going along might want to step out at three quarter time to head home or off to the pub, or otherwise bring a radio or their smartphone.
Or, if you're Dave, duck down the shop at half time of the ressies to stock up on Twisties as you follow both at home... _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

More than happy to admit that I was proven wrong about Vic Park though. Now, don't go stealth ninja moving those games to the HC, Collingwood. Don't do that. _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |
