If;
1. Melbourne beat West Coast
2. Collingwood beat Freo
3. Brisbane beat West Coast at the Gabba (has to be a chance, longest trip in footy)
THEN
we finish second!
** disclaimer, if hawthorn beat the south by more than we beat the rockets they finish second but it would be inconsequential as it would be a qualifying final at the G!

It'd be nice to be 2nd, but both unlikely I reckon.
Would be hilarious if the Dees finished 9th tho.

If we can beat Freo by 40+ points, we might only need WCE to lose 1 game (as long as they don’t have a massive win in their other game)

Although, I think we want Dees to make the 8 as we may need the to beat GWS to ensure our top 4 spot.

Incorrect – we need them to lose both for percentage to even come into the equation. They’re already a game ahead of us. While it’s conceivable they could lose today, I doubt they’ll get done by Brisbane. That McGovern goal after the siren against Port could end up being the difference.

I think melbourne will put this thought to bed today, they really are piss weak and will get blown away today.

nope, we have top 4 locked up with a win against freo. cant finish top 4 if we dont beat freo.

Isn’t playing in China further away than playing in Brisbane?
I didn’t realise that we were playing Houston but if we are that would be the longest trip in football. |

The latter isn’t strictly true – we still make it in the latter scenario if three other results go our way: West Coast beat Melbourne, Melbourne beat GWS and Hawthorn beat Sydney (OR Sydney beat Hawthorn by a greater margin than Fremantle beat us). But the first part is true: a win and we’re in.

Yes we have top 4 locked up with a win against freo. But incorrect that we CAN'T finish top 4 with a loss. It would be unlikely to finish top 4 with a loss but still possible: would need Melbourne to beat GWS and likely want Hawthorn to beat Sydney (if Sydney beat Hawthorn then Hawthorn may still overtake us on percentage if they lose by less than we do)
EDIT: just read David's post that was written whilst I was writing mine, which essentially says the same thing
