I'm interested in the thoughts of those who have ditched foxtel and are using Kayo?? Looks like a far cheaper way to get AFL which is the only reason why I have foxtel in the first place... _________________ "You must be a parking ticket, cuz you got fine written all over you" Glen Quagmire |

I've only had a quick look and see that they have two price points
Basic: $25 (2 streams)
Premium: $35 (3 streams)
Foxtel Now isn't massively different
Sports package: $29 (5 streams)
+ Starter Pack: $10 min
The big issue with Foxtel Now is that it's only SD. If Foxtel would remove the requirement of the Starter pack they'd be much more competitive.
To me it will come down to quality: is Kayo HD and how good is the service? _________________ Well done boys! |

I'm still pissed off that neither of them show the EPL. |

Kayo is Foxtel's sports only streaming service. From what i have seen so far, the quality of the stream is not great. _________________ Form Ladder Premiers 2018! |

I ditched foxtel before the season last year and am wrapped I did. I was paying around $130 pmth.
I'm not interested in kayo - a good proportion of games are on FTA and what is not my wife and I take a day trip and rock up to a different sports bar on each occasion. We've met a bunch of different collingwood fans and get to enjoy the game in good company.
With the spare change we get netflix, stan and a bunch of cold beers. _________________ We shall set our course by the stars and not ships that pass in the night |

Maybe a silly question, is Kayo just on the computer? Our internet can't cope with Netflix or any of the other ones. So I presume this would be useless too? The telstra AFL live app we can't watch on our ipad or phones at home either, so if anything like that I think would be no good. _________________ Cheers big ears |

^^It's streaming only, so yes if you have terrible internet it's going to be difficult. _________________ Well done boys! |

I've got Foxtel cable, 2 boxes and all the channels. Between that and free access to the AFL app, I don't have any interest in Kayo for myself, but I am interested in how others find the service. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I have Foxtel Now which is the streaming service where you choose which packs you have. Watch mostly sport but also have Showcase for some quality tv series. The problem with this is while it's relatively cheap the on demand section has little on offer during the year and currently there is nothing in the AFL section to watch. They have live classic games but not a lot of great viewing. When watching the replays during the year the quality of the stream isn't great and is a little difficult to watch as it's slightly blurry. I tried the Kayo 3 month thing and the stream is better quality but it offered little over Foxtel so cancelled it. Overall I think Foxtel is great and haven't watched commercial TV for months now. |

NBN HCF Cable and Foxtel Cable cannot coexist. Foxtel is pushing it's clients back to old fashioned Satellite hook up and in doing that will lose customers. Kayo is Foxtels Plan B. I am not going to Satellite when the day dawns and I have to switch to the NBN, so Kayo may be the only option. It's pretty average from my trial. |

I ditched Foxtel Now for Kayo as they didn’t have a dedicated app on ATV4, so I had to airplay. I do have a TTV1 but max resolution for Foxtel Now is 720p.
I have had Kayo for a month now and no more airplay. Resolution on ATV4 dedicated app is 1080p and is better than the reconstituted 1080i on 7HD. It’s actually better quality on Kayo compared to 7HD when watching the test cricket.
It also supports chrome cast from chrome browser and most new TVs have chromecast build in. There is an Andriod TV dedicated app due at the end of January.
What I love best though is the key moments if you join a game late. Also love Kayo minis if you are out all day like yesterday. Caught up on a 30 min highlight package of the ODI, 20 mins replay of Roar v Victory and 20 min highlights of Aus v Syria. Caught up on all the action in just over an hour. This will be a great feature when footy starts. Like the split screen (not available on Telstra TV) have watched Basketball, Soccer and Cricket simultaneously.
I am a big fan and it’s cheaper than I was paying for Foxtel Now sport. It all depends on your needs. If you only want sport then it’s definitely worth it, but if you watch a variety of Foxtel then probably stay on Foxtel. I was on Foxtel Now as kids only interested in Cartoon package and I had the sport.
There is a massive thread for Kayo on Whirlpool forum if you want more info.
I have NBN 50/20 you will probably need this level if you are watching a second stream, my son watching Victory on 1 TV while I am watching cricket or Basketball or whatever on another. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

I signed up for the free 14 day trial over the Christmas break to check it out and have to echo Johnno's comments: the streaming quality is superb. Of course, you need to have good internet to support it.
While I did struggle to stream more than two sports at a time , I'm confident this was due to the limitations of my under-powered MINIX device (like a mini PC through an input to my TV), rather than internet speed or Kayo not working as it should. To be fair, I'm rarely going to need more than two sports on my screen anyway.
I will definitely be getting Kayo through the footy season, possibly even for the pre-season. |

Whatever game is shown on ESPN, you get quite a few live games a week, but not all. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |
